City Dwelling
Keeping the layers to a minimum is key for (literally) breezy summer style. After all, we have to take into consideration that guys tend to sweat a lot! Khaki-coloured shorts and a tailored button-up are a smart combo when offset with quirky sunnies and canvas boat shoes. To top the look off, a vintage watch is an interesting take on modern-day time telling.
Old Navy Men’s Patterned Linen-Blend Shirt (US$14.50 sale); Casio Analog Resin Strap Watch (C$28.00); Topman Brown Clubman Retro Sunglasses (US$32.00); Topman Mustard Chino Shorts (US$50.00); Bass Compass Sneaker (US$55.00)
Cottage Living
Help your guy pick out comfy, stylish basics that he’ll be able to throw into a weekender and look fab wherever he’s headed for the long weekend. Americana classics like jean jackets and moccasins are perfect paired with simple cotton separates and original Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

@TammyK, start picking up clothes for your guy yourself. Birthdays, anniversaries, any occasion, or just even 'just because' moments, pick up shirts and tshirts, pants and sunglasses for him. Eventually your choices will replace his in his wardrobe ;-) Also, it feels kinda nice when I see my guy wearing a shirt I got him..feels sweet :)
My guy doesn't think there's anything wrong with how he dresses either. He should really get new clothes for this summer so what can I say that will convince him that he NEEDS to go shopping?
I agree with MaryGorgeous! Though guys are more often able to pull off that sporty look, I like my guys with a business casual style.
My guy promised me a shopping expedition in June and I'm hopping on one toe for THE DAY to come!!! Fun part is it's not a make over for me (I mean, I'll buy stuff for me, obviously), but it's a make over for HIM!!! He doesn't think it's a "makeover", he thinks he's just buying a new wardrobe also he doesn't think there's anything wrong with the way he dresses. Well there isn't, but I can dress him SO much better! :) Can't wait can't wait can't wait yippee :)
I have to say I like the wayfarer look, I feel like men only have 2 choices for sun glasses- sporty or these. I don't like the sport look on my guy. I like how the wayferes sort of have this 1950s-resort look to them lol with the right outfit that is...
I don't get Wayfarers. Too young-Tom-Cruise for me. My guy keeps wanting to buy Oakleys, but I have an ongoing objection to them too.
Hee hee! I love it when women get to dress their men. It really benefits us all, doesn't it?
Man, I used to think bermuda shorts were only for men on cruises, but I think it's time to make my boyfriend wear them!
I have to tread very carefully when buying clothes for my guy. If I go too much in any direction (too sporty, too preppy, too rocker, etc), then he thinks I'm trying to make him over. I don't think he'd subscribe to any one "look", but sticks to neutrals. Give us some tips on how to sneak more pizzazz into his wardrobe without him noticing/taking offense!
I like the city dwelling look. Simple and clean. |
