Fast, convenient and tasty!
I used to always buy individual packs of instant oatmeal due to their convenience, however with a goal to cut back on sugar I decided it was time to ditch them and discovered the Quaker Steel Cut Oats. What I love about these oats is that they are so easy and quick to make, they are super filling, nutritious, and other than adding some fruit for additional flavour, you don’t need to add any sugar! These have been added to my breakfast rotation for good.
Super filling!
I was looking for healthier snacks for in between meals and I kept hearing about steel cut oats so I went to Sobeys and found this tub from Quaker for about $6.00. When cooking this on the stove top they didn’t take long to cook at all, I like my oats really thick so I cooked them for about 5 minutes.
I quickly realized that these on their own have zero taste to them but it’s fine because I had things I wanted to add to them anyway. I have eaten these oats with bananas and peanut butter, blueberries and honey and also raspberries and cinnamon.
These are extremely filling and I discovered that I shouldn’t eat them too close to suppertime because I will still be full from having these, So I have them mostly around lunchtime. These are a great healthy option and one that I will continue to eat as long as I have tasty toppings.
Like an Old Sock
Do not eat this stuff plain! It's not the greatest tasting hut the flavour can be enhanced with a bit of peanut butter, honey or mixed berries. It's super filling and easy to make and really healthy.
I like this new Quaker product a lot! It has more fibre thanks to the steel cut process but tastes just as good. In 3 minutes I have a quick and steamy breakfast. I just add some nuts and fruits and I'm ready to go. I'm also very pleased with the packaging. It's more environment friendly than individual packages but still easy to dose and has a great price. I'll definitely be buying this again!
