I received this cream eyeshadow in #19 Riviera Blue to test. It is a shimmering Mediterranean blue, exactly as the name describes.
Cream eyeshadows can be tricky to apply, but once you have the hang of it you'll be sold. This product, once dry, stays put and looks fresh all day long. It won't crease or flake off, and is moderately water resistant. I wore it quite a bit this summer and was quite pleased.
I would not wear this particular shade alone, as it does not blend well and once dried is there until you clean it off. I pair it with complementary shades from my other powder palettes, notably Les Cachemires quad in Bleu from Lise Watier (reviewed separately), using this YSL cream as the feature colour.
This might be a good product to test out via a free makeover at your local department store beauty counter unless you have experience with cream shadows. The uninitiated may find it a bit of a challenge.
I tried this Yves Saint Laurent Water-Resistant Eye Shadow in #5 Golden Sands, a metallic shimmering gold colour. It is a very sparkly eyeshadow and works great with any other eye shadow colour. It is water-resistant and doesn't fade or rub off until you use a makeup remover which is perfect for hot summers and long days. The only drawback was that it's application isn't very smooth and because it dries very quickly, I often get patches of colour in some areas of no eye shadow in other parts.
I received a sample of this eye shadow for testing from the brand.
