10 Easy DIYs for the Crafty Challenged

As some of you chicks may or may not know, I love getting my hands dirty and getting crafty. Whether it's revamping some furniture or creating a custom flavoured drink, I'm down for some DIY! Getting all artsy can be a bit tricky. It takes lots of time and some serious crafting skills which sometimes, I just don't have. Which is why I love to find really simple projects that I can do on a rainy afternoon and that I don't have to invest too much effort into. If you're a newbie DIY'er, just looking for a quick activity or if you're perhaps a bit 'craft challenged', here are 10 easy - peasy DIYs to try out!

(clockwise from top left)

#1  Homemade Lip Scrub makes a great gift for someone else or a sweet gift for yourself! Most likely you already have all the ingredients in your kitchen cupboard, all you've got to do is mix it together.

#2  Beaded Wrap Bracelets make some fabulous arm candy when stacked.

#3  Art made from those freebie paint swatches at the store: looks expensive, but costs only a few bucks.

#4  Screw a few hooks into an old frame and presto -- instant key hook!

#5: Modpodge anything. Seriously. Modpodge, a glue-like material, is the water of the crafting world. You use it for and on anything. You can use it to embellish a ton of different surfaces and it adheres to many different fabrics or materials. Try jazzing up some shoes, a suitcase or some old furniture knobs with it.

#6  Speaking of Modpodge, we used a similar glue to create these fabric wrapped planter pots. They add detail and interest to your indoor garden.

#7  All thumbs when it comes to sewing? Don't worry, there is a simple, no-sew pillowcase tutorial right here.

#8  Mason jars are the epitome of rustic chic décor, paint the inside of one and you've got yourself a fabulous vase or funky makeup brush holder.

#9  Chalkboard paint is such a versatile material to have on hand for crafting. You can go all out with this paint, but if you're looking for a quickie, try painting an old wine bottle then using it as a vase. Check out this list for more chalkboard paint ideas.

#10  Use an old picture frame or a picture frame from the dollar store and glue gun corks to it for a custom cork board.

I use Modpodge to decorate picture frames with photos from old magazines and comic books. It makes for some really unique frames which I then either keep for myself or give as gifts :)
