10 Ways to Inject Spring Into Your Beauty Routine

If the icy ground and bitter winds are anything to go by, spring is still a little ways away. But real talk: I am so sick of winter. I am tired of being cold, tired of wearing jackets and sweaters. I don't ever want to see a pair of boots again. Spring cannot come fast enough. In an effort to let Mother Nature know that I am totally up for spring anytime she wants to come on by and drop it in my lap (PLEASE!), I've started injecting spring into my beauty routine.

While winter is a time for deep, dark jewel tones, spring demands light pinks, corals and pastels that seem like a breath of fresh air! While winter means dry, parched skin, spring brings in more heat and that means it's time to break out the mattifyers. So, while you may not be ditching your parka just yet, I think we can toss out the dark lips and introduce some light glosses into our lives!

#1 Cream Blush: Cream blushes give a more natural, flushed glow excellent for spring and summer when you start to tan.

1. Maybelline Master Glaze By Face Studio Blush Stick (US$7.99)

2. Rimmel Stay Blushed Liquid Cheek Tint (C$6.99)

3. PurMinerals Big Blush Crush (C$24.50, available at Shoppers Drug Mart)

#2  Primer: Heat + melting makeup = not fun. Use a primer to help makeup stay put and to mattify your complexion. New primers for spring focus on blurring pores for an even skin tone - love!

1. Stila CC Colour Correcting Cream (C$57.00)

2. L'Oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector Pore Vanisher (C$30.00)

3. L'Oreal Revitalift Moisture Blur Instant Skin Smoother (C$29.99)

4. Rimmel Stay Matte Primer (C$8.99)

#3 Switch Up Your Cleanser: As the seasons change, your skin type does as well. Address your new skin concerns by switching to a new type of cleanser.

1. Garnier Oil-Free Impurities Eliminating Scrub (C$10.99)

2. L'Oreal Sublime Soft Gentle Micellar Solution (C$11.99)

3. Clarins Extra-Comfort Anti-Pollution Cleansing Cream (C$44.00)

#4 Hair Repair: Now that the deep freeze is starting to thaw, it's time to repair your damaged hair.

1. Garnier Fructis Damage Eraser Split End Bandage (C$5.79)

2. Pantene Ultimate 10 BB Creme 10-in-1 Hair Perfector (C$8.99)

#5 Go Light: Instead of using heavy foundations or concealers, opt for layering weightless ones.

1. L'Oreal Visible Lift CC Eye Concealer (C$14.99)

2. Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Invisible Skin Fusion Foundation (C$65.00)

3. Buxom Show Some Skin Weightless Foundation (C$41.00)

#6 All Over Lid Colour: Instead of taking the time to do a full out dramatic eye with shading, try an all over lid colour in a metallic to catch light and create dimension.

1. Annabelle TwistUp Retractable Eyeshadow Crayon in Gold (C$9.95)

2. Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow (C$8.99)

#7 Gloss it Up: Try a lighter, more subtle lip colour in a tint this spring in great, pop of pink colours!

1. & 3. Annabelle Big Show Lip Shine + Lipliner (C$9.95, C$5.95)

2. Benefit Lollitint (C$36.00)

4. Rodial Glamstick (C$24.00)

#8 Brightening: Focus your skincare on getting radiant, gorgeous, bright skin.

1. Burt's Bees Brightening Even-Tone Moisturizing Cream (C$29.99)

2. Rodial X-Treme Acis Rush Peel (C$94.00)

#9 Change Up Your Fragrance: Fragrances should change with the seasons, so ditch your spicy fall scent and try a softer floral one!

1. Chloe Roses De Chloé (C$85.00)

2. Fresh Life (C$56.00)

3. Victoria's Secret Forbidden Eau de Parfum (C$60.00)

#10 Try Something New: Spring means rebirth, so throw caution to the wind and try something unexpected and new, like one of these super cool products!

1. Sephora Collection Upside Down Mascara (C$26.00)

2. Bliss Fabulips pout-o-matic Lip Perfecting System (US$48.00)

3. Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge With Bamboo Charcoal (C$22.00)

I can't wait to go to Shopper's and try the Lollitint. I love Benefit, so this will be my introduction to Spring (this I say as I look for my warm tights).

Definitely love reading chickadvisor blog posts! I am always finding new products to try out. I really do think that changing your beauty routine to the time of the year is true because I do this all the time. Right now I am trying out the 2 hair repairs that are mentioned in this post and cannot wait to review them both. Spring time be here already!!!!

The blush trio up top looks interesting! I've also been known to change up my perfume every now and then, as well as my eye colours... tends to happen every season or so without me noticing. Someone had to point it out to me!

A good BB cream, an all season solution.

If you want to go light on foundation, I highly recommend using mineral products. They work for a lot of different skin types and look very natural when applied.

There are a lot of great products here. I completely agree with changing up your skincare. I used to have really dry skin and I used cream cleansers and moisturizers to combat that but I didn't realize my skin changed and I was still using the same products. My skin became the oiliest it has ever been. So, definitely monitor the changes in your skin and tailor your skincare routine based on the changes.

These all look good to me! I've been trying some new products this month (like Olay's Out of This Swirled in White Grapefruit & Green Tea, which smells amazing!), that are getting me in the mood for spring - I can't wait for winter to be over!
