Inspired by our love for jeans enduring simplicity we're falling hard for denim dresses in all matter of shapes and hues—relaxed and loose or fitted and belted, washed out or intense indigo—here are twelve that won't give your wallet the blues.

Mines about two maybe three inches above the ankles, its very light denim and it buttons all the way up the front. You don't have to have them all done up. You can pick and choose how much leg you really want to show, but I always wear it all buttoned all the way up with a nice T –shirt and sandals. You think I'd be safe pulling it out this summer?

@takoda - I agree with Siofan; it's all about what you pair it with that makes it 'in style'. You can always wear a pair of opaque black tights under a shorter dress to make it a little more "age appropriate" or just to make yourself feel more comfortable. In my opinion, there is nothing more chic than black tights with black pumps - they make the legs look long and lean!

Hey @takoda, I know how you feel, I like longer styles too (I feel so much better with knee length, it's my safety length). When you say it's a long denim shirt, how long is long? Maxi length is definitely something you'll see in a lot of stores this spring, in both dresses and skirts. However, I don't think there's a particular length that is really a focus this spring, and certainly on runways there was mini, maxi and everything in between. I did notice that the in-between lengths were fuller skirts, with a bit of volume.

If you're looking for a way to update your denim shirtdress why not add an Obi belt? Or a bright skinny belt? Wear the belt at your natural waist and it will add shape if your shirtdress is a looser shape.

I hope that helps!

I have had a long denim shirt hanging in my closet for about ten years now just waiting for the style to come back in. I was wondering if it counts now that we're seeing so much denim, or if the short style is still the way to go. Do you ladies have any help for me with that?
Some of these are very cute, but they also look like they're for younger woman than I am. I think I might be getting a bit too old for the short dresses at 45. I wouldn't want to be walking around looking silly in my long shirt when that’s not the style, or in a short dress that doesn’t suit my age. I've seen some woman my age walking around dressed in what looks like they're teenage daughter’s closes and they think they seem to look younger dressed like that. I think it just makes them look older and silly. Does anyone have any thoughts about that?
