It seems that these days, everyone's got a huge crafting crush on the mason jar. It's easy to see why too: they're cute, easy to find, inexpensive, have a simple elegance and rustic edge and of course, they're amazingly versatile. 

In our last few wedding inspiration and idea articles (check out Western, 1920's Vintage and Rustic Weddings), we talked a lot about how fabulous the mason jar was and gave a few tips and tricks on how to incorporate them into your own wedding. 

Now, we've rounded up even more ways to use the mason jar and not just for events either. They're perfect for storage and organization in the home and I guarantee will soon become a staple in your DIY endeavours!

Planters: Can you get any cuter or any easier? These planters are stencilled and painted (just in time for Easter!) and filled with soil and wildflowers. Make great decorations for an event or just around the house.  

Candle Holders: Glass jars make the perfect candle holders, specifically, they work well with inexpensive tea lights you can purchase at any dollar store. Add a wire handle or attach a string to a mason jar to hang them from trees, or even indoors, for a romantic atmosphere. 
 
Photo Frames: Create a photo frame out of a mason jar by simply slipping in a photo for a simple but sweet look. Or, fill the jar with olive oil for a faux vintage camera finish.  

Chandeliers: These retro-esque chandeliers have a barn yard  meets elegant dining room feel feel. You could try and DIY these badboys but you can also find them here on Etsy. 

Bathroom Storage: A great idea for bathroom storage and organization is to DIY yourself a mason jar shelving unit. Alternatively, you could also create a shelf by attach the lids of the jars to the underside of a cabinet so you can unscrew the jars to easily access what they're holding.

Chalkboard Jar: I mentioned chalkboard paint in our Valentine DIY article and I stand by my love for it today! Chalkboard your jar to add cute name tags or labels on a jar. 

Herb Rack: I absolutely adore this idea, it's a cross between the planters and the shelving units and an awesome and stylish way to show off your cooking herb garden. I would adore having this in my kitchen, anyone want to make me one?

Sippy Cups: Cover your mason jar lid with paper or an adhesive plastic wrap, then drill a hole in the lid. Add a straw and you've got yourself a DIY juice box! 

Oil Jar: Poke, dril or slice a hole big enough in the lid of a jar to fit a BBQ brush. Fill the jar with oil and you have an easy way to coat whatever you're making in oil and it sits attractively on the counter. 

Night Light: This is so easy and looks so cool. Using glow in the dark paint, either splatter or you could even paint the inside/outside of the jar. A great, kid-friendly craft!

Ice Cream: Imagine your backyard picnic, now what's missing? A fun, non messy and cheap way to enjoy your ice cream? Problem solved- put it in a jar!  

Pie: These pies are actually baked in the jar, which pretty much blows my mind. Awesome idea, a bit tough but worth it as a cute gift idea.

Dessert: Dry ingredients with a recipe attached make an adorable gift. The layers of ingredients in the jar look so homey and adorable.

Drinks: Pink lemonade in a mason jar is pretty much the drink of choice this summer! For a summer party or BBQ, screw the lid onto the jar, then put all the jars in an ice bucket to keep cold. Then, guests can help themselves and the drinks are kept bug free and are easily transportable. 

Meal in a Jar: I love this idea for a take away lunch or dinner. Put all the ingredients into the jar, layered and toss in a bag for a healthy, on the go, cheap, option!
