At last night's CMT Music Awards, sheer fabrics like lace and chiffon were the major trend. From full length white lace, to sheer black bodices that ran the gamut from gothic to refined (as refined as seeing someone's bra through the panel can be), singers weren't afraid to show their summer skin. Surprisingly absent was colour or wild prints, which were all over the MTV Movie Awards red carpet earlier this week.

From left: Kristin Chenoweth wore a floor-skimming lace gown, not sure about the black sash she finished it off with but the dress feels summery; Shania Twain went demure in a knee-grazing gown with lace bodice; Jennifer Nettles showed some edge in a black leather skirt and one-shoulder lace top; Hayley Williams is goth in a sheer top, long black skirt, oversize cross and Dr. Martens.
