3 Tricks to Add Volume to Fine Hair

Having Fine hair can be everything but. Rather, it’s often limp, thin, flat, and ‘easy-greasy’. With the help of a few tried and true products, you can take those fine locks from fizzle to sizzle!

Tip One: Use a Daily Volumizing Shampoo and a Lightweight Conditioner
Fine hair tends to be oilier than other hair types, so the trick is to find daily Volumizing shampoos and conditioners that are gentle enough for frequent use but won't dry and damage your hair. My tried and true favourite is Klorane Gentle Shampoo with Oatmilk.
Tip Two: Use a Volumizing Mousse
Work the Volumizing Mousse into damp hair and then blow dry. For maximum effect blow dry your hair with a round brush, and then flip your hair upside down and blow dry the roots. To set the va-va-voom volume, blow cool air directly on to your roots immediately afterward. ChickAdvisor member Robyn R's favourite volumizer is Herbal Essences Body Envy Mousse.
Tip Three: Use Dry Shampoo to keep your hair fresh all day
Dry Shampoos are powder based and absorb the excess sebum (oil) from your roots – the main cause of your dull and flat hair! Touch up your tresses by spraying the Dry Shampoo directly onto your roots in 2 second intervals, let it sit for 30 seconds, use your fingers to rub the powder into your roots, and then brush out and/or restyle your hair. ChickAdvisor member spoony recommends Batiste Dry Shampoo.

hey Oendrila! Great advice! Looks like you're going places fast xx |
![]() | I use the Cake Powder as well and I find that putting some powder on your hair brush makes it a lot easier to work with. I cannot give up this powder because it smells SO good, spray bottles be damned! |

I've use the Batiste Dry Hair Shampoo a few times when I should have washed my hair in the morning but decided to throw it into a dirty bun instead. It definitely helps it feel fresher and because there is some grit to it, I could see it helping a bit with volume. |
![]() | I've been using the Cake Beauty Satin Sugar Hair and Body Refreshing Powder for all my de-oiling needs. It works quite well, but I think the spray bottle allows more precision than dumping powder on my head randomly with your hands. |
![]() | I don't have fine hair - in fact I spend most of my hair care time trying to flatter my hair! - but some of my fine haired friends tease the crown of their head to add volume! |
