Your wedding day isn’t just about getting that dream dress. It’s also the perfect opportunity to spoil your guests with a fabulous meal. We consulted our favourite wedding planner, Cynthia Martyn, for some fresh, original ideas for that all-important menu.
Cocktail Reception
An evening drinks reception with a gorgeous array of cocktails promises a truly fun celebration. Remember though, the golden rule is still to keep your guests happy and well fed. Try mini bundles of fish & chips wrapped in newsprint (sure to be a conversation point!) or mini cones of frites and garlic aioli. A fun selection of food stations (think sushi, risotto or Asian cuisine) will also be crowd pleasers.
Brunch Wedding
Everyone loves brunch! Hosting a late morning ceremony followed by a gourmet brunch reception would be a relaxed and unique way to celebrate the big day. Consider spoiling your guests with elegant offerings such as French patisseries or Eggs Benedict - followed by wedding cake, of course!
BBQ Reception
If you’re planning an intimate garden wedding or a country affair, this would be delightful. Hire a local company to provide classic favourites such as burgers, ribs and sausages. We love the idea of seating guests at long wooden tables with blanket-covered hay bales as seats.
Picnic Party
What could be more romantic than a wedding picnic in the sunshine (or under the stars)? Vintage quilts and cushions make a gorgeous setting for a long, relaxing outdoor feast. Hang lanterns or flowers in trees for extra sparkle.
