4 Healthy Hair Tips
I have a deep dark confession to make. After a major haircut a while back, I vowed to be good to my locks. Well, I didn't really make good on that promise. I've been washing it daily, contrary to my own advice, and I just haven't been very nice to it in general (sorry hair!)
With my hair in rough shape, I'm never felt like a worse beauty blogger. But, I will try and redeem myself. I've been searching for ways to keep my hair healthy and happy!
Here are 5 healthy hair tips so you don't make the same mistake I did:
1. Be Gentle: I tend to quickly and roughly tie up my hair in tight buns with elastics. But this is a no no! This causes breakage to your ends and strains your hair. Instead, try sectioning clips that don't have teeth or softer, looser elastics with no metal on them. When you can, let your hair down or in looser styles.
2. T-Shirt Drying: This is a great tip for curly haired ladies. Dry your hair with a tee instead of a towel. It will help eliminate frizz. More on t-shirt drying here.
3. Sleep on Silk: While cotton can absorb moisture, leaving your hair parched, silk moisturizes it. Try a silk bonnet or a silk pillowcase.
4. Little or No Heat: Try and use as little heat as possible on your hair. While you can always reach for a heat protectant, it's no substitute for air drying. If you're after curly hair, you can always try the sock or toilet paper method for curls or this overnight headband one. Invest in a diffuser and use a low heat or cold setting to avoid frizzies.

thanks for the tips. I didn't know a pillow case made a difference, this is good to know
Thanks for the tips :) | |
I just air dry my hair, never ever use heating tools on it. I still have a bit of issues with fly away hair though.
I just air dry my hair. Oh yes as an earlier post stated, mayo is excellent for hair. I use an evoo and mayo mask. Works wonders.
I also use coconut oil, or heat up some olive oil in the microwave and apply it to my ends once a week. Once it's all rinsed out my hair is always really shiny and soft (warning though, if you use either of these your tub may get a little slippery, so watch out!).
Great tips! Also try a mayo mask on your locks!
Using heating tools is my number one hair care sin. I like to use dry shampoo to stretch the time between washes, this way I can give my strands a bit of a break from heat styling.
Weekly I rub coconut oil through my hair and let that soak in from 15-20 minutes and then wash and condition as usual and my hair is super soft... |
