There is no doubt that Destination Weddings continue to be a hot trend for engaged couples in 2010. But is it an option for your nuptial plans?
Reason #1: Save Money
Surprisingly, the financial savings can be substantial. You may safely assume that most of your guests will be those truly close to you and invested in your relationship. Obligation invites like distant relatives and coworkers are less likely to attend, keeping your guest list to a minimum without offense. Fewer guests mean lower costs for food, drinks, and other incidentals.
Reason #2: Group Vacation
Choose a location that is easily reachable by most guests, or planned far enough in advance that timely vacation booking can be arranged. Group pricing on flights and hotels will offer your close friends and family the excuse they've been waiting for to get away; in fact, they'll probably thank you for it!

Reason #3: Cement the Memory
Stay on after the wedding and honeymoon in paradise! It reinforces your memory of the wonderful occasion, and bonus - the flights are already paid. If you book during the off season, you can save up to 30% off peak hotel and airline fares. November/December and April/May are ideal times to travel.
Reason #4: Reduce Your Stress
Planning a wedding from afar can be a stressful and risky experience, so including a professional in your planning eliminates most of your worries. Ask for referrals from other couples who have married at your proposed destination, or work with a wedding planner who has experience in your dream locale. The money saved from lost deposits, unreliable vendors, and last minute glitches will go a long way to covering your reliable professional's fee.
