When spring rolls around (whenever it darn well chooses to because like, HELLO, I AM WAITING), it means two things to me: It's time to break out my new Zara coat that I purchased two months ago in hopes it would get warmer and SPRING MAKEUP RELEASES! 

If you're smart, you've already started injecting spring into your beauty routine, but as we move forward into the new season, it's time to try out some of the spring trends for 2014. Here's a break down of 5 of the biggest trends straight off the catwalk: 

1. Pastels

Whether we're talking beauty or fashion, pastels are always on point when the weather turns warmer. There's something so perfect about wearing soft pinks, blues and purples when the sun starts to shine, am I right or am I right? 

This spring, designers showed pastels not only on eyes but on lips as well. Eyes had a sheer wash of all over colour and matched with a pretty pink lip it balanced out. 
 
2. Orange Lips

Orange lips are making a comeback yet again this year! An orange lip provides a pop of colour against a neutral or minimal face and brightens everything up. Remember to keep your shade of orange in tune with your skintone. Darker tones can pull off any shade, but a tangerine is usually more universally flattering. 

3. Gold


Gold, gold, gold. Designers couldn't get enough of the metallic. Whether it was gilded brows or hairlines, gold was a major force. Gold on the catwalk ranged from rose golds to yellow golds. To make this look wearable, try a bronze cream shadow and place all over your lid going just above the crease. A creamy metallic will catch the light to add more dimension to your eye. 

4. Graphic Liner


This look can be dramatic or more subtle and feminine. For those who aren't ready to rock out all 1960's mod a la Twiggy, a simple exaggerated cat eye with a longer and thicker wing like at Tracy Reese (top middle) works. Or, go heavy with the liner like at Stella McCartney or Rodarte (top left and bottom middle) for a daring but pretty eye. If you're looking to go all out, try the geometric inspired eye from Anthony Vaccarello (bottom right). 

5. Au Natural 


One of the biggest and most common looks on the Spring runway for 2014 was minimal, fresh and bare faced.  Skin was soft and mositurized, slightly contoured but not overdone. The idea is a natural beauty with full brows, long lashes and a glow.
