5 Valentine's Day Cocktail Recipes

What is a Valentine's Day celebration without a sultry cocktail?  Exactly.

Love Potion #9

1 1/2 oz Vodka (such as Prairie Organic vodka)
1/2 oz Peach Schnapps
3 oz Blood Orange Juice

Combine with ice in a shaker, pour into a sugar-rimmed martini glass and garnish with a blood orange wedge or cherry.

Raw Diamond

1 oz Tequila (such as 1800 Silver tequila)
1/4 oz Pear Puree
1/4 oz fresh Lime Juice
1/4 oz Agave Nectar
splash of Chambord

Combine first four ingredients with ice in a shaker, then pour into a lightly salted highball glass.  Float with Chambord for a drizzle effect and garnish with a lime slice.

Amore Vietato ('Forbidden Love')

2 oz Gin (such as Hendricks gin)
1 oz Blood Orange Juice
dash Simple Syrup
2 Strawberries
4 slices of Cucumber

In a shaker muddle fruit with simple syrup, then add gin and blood orange juice.  Shake and strain into a martini glass and garnish with strawberry, cucumber spiral and orange peel hearts.

Espresso Martini

Shot of Espresso
1/2 oz Chocolate Vodka (such as Three Olives)
1/2 oz Godiva dark chocolate liqueur
1/4 oz Amaretto
1/4 oz Kahlúa
Baileys to top off

Shake ingredients with ice. Rim the glass with shaved chocolate. Strain cocktail and top with Baileys, whipped cream, and cocoa.

Amaretto-Cranberry Kiss (serves 8)

2 cups Cranberry Juice Cocktail
1 cup Vodka
1/2 cup Amaretto
3 Tbsp fresh Orange Juice
Clementines, peeled, separated into segments

Mix cranberry juice, vodka, amaretto, and orange juice in pitcher. Cover and chill until ready to use (up to 1 day ahead).  To serve, add a shy 1/2 cup of vodka mixture to a shaker with ice.  Shake and strain into a martini glass, then garnish with a clementine segment.
