6 Healthy 100 Calorie Snacks To Try
The other week, I asked the Chick community what their favourite healthy snacks were because lately I've been a cheat. Chocolate, cake and cookies, I'll be the first to admit to having a sweet tooth!
I'll also be the first to admit that these aren't always the smartest choices, especially when you consider how many nutritious, low cal tasty treats are available and really easy to make! Try these 6 simple options for snacks, all at 100 calories:
#1: Rice Cakes and Almond Butter
Spread 2 tsp of almond butter onto a rice cake. It's a great source of fibre, vitamin E and iron.
#2 Broccoli and Tzatziki Dip
Chop up 6 florets of broccoli and create your own tzatziki-style dipping sauce by mixing together 2 Ttbsp of plain, nonfat Greek yogurt, 1 tsp lemon juice and 1 tbsp of minced cucumber.
#3 DIY Kettle Corn
Add 1 tsp of stevia and 1 tsp of cinnamon to 2 cups of freshly popped popcorn for a sweeter treat that satisfies. If you aren't a stevia fan or you don't have any on hand, microwave 1 tsp of honey and 1 tsp of water together for a thinner consistency and use that instead.
#4 Skinny Cow Heavenly Crisp Hazelnut Heavenly Crisp
A great option for someone on the go, these bars are 100 calories and are perfect for chocolate lovers. Individual bars start at C$1.09 and multipacks start at C$3.79.
#5 Watermelon Salad
1 cup of raw spinach + 3/4 cup diced watermelon and drizzled with about 1 Tbsp of balsamic vinegar makes for a tart, fresh salad. Spinach is a wonderful source of vitamins K and A.
#6 Strawberries and Goat Cheese
Pair 10 strawberries with 1 Tbsp of soft goat cheese. Not only is this a delicious, savory-sweet combo but 10 strawberries gives you your daily recommended dose of vitamin C.
Which healthy snacks do you reach for when you're craving?

I love Tzatziki! I made some yesterday actually and homemade falafels. So good packed into a pita with fresh veggies....I still want to try popcorn and Sriacha sauce since seeing that video you posted Alex!
I like such a wide variety of things. The strawberries and goat cheese is high on that list.
I love making a goat cheese salad with strawberries, pecans, pickled red onions and a raspberry white balsamic dressing... to die for! It's my homemade version of the Milestone's salad! ;) |
