2013, may forever go down as the year of twerking. Or maybe, the year that the epicness of Breaking Bad came to an end. Or perhaps, the year that we were all hooked on Netflix. Halloween is the perfect time to pay homage to your fave pop culture phenomenons that occurred this past year! Get on trend with these news-worthy costume ideas. You'll be the toast of the party! 

#1 Miley Cyrus in Wrecking Ball or VMAs 


Miley's crazy, buzzed about performace is going to be a major costume this year and it's pretty simple to pull off. For Wrecking Ball, try some tighty whities and a tank and add some burgundy docs. Bonus points if you carry a sledgehammer around all night. For the VMAs, foam finger in hand, wear nude shorts and a nude crop top or tank. Add some of her trademark red lipstick, too! 

#2 Walter White and Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad


There are a few different options here, but either way, this makes an excellent couples costume. Go in their street clothes or find hazmat suits, gloves and gas masks for their cooking clothes. 

#3 Roaring 20's 'Gatsby' Inspired 


The release of The Great Gatsby was much anticipated and why wouldn't you want to wear some lavish jewels for Halloween? Complete your look with a shift dress (sequins and tassels look fabulous), beackseam stocking and a jewelled headband. 

#4 Daenerys of Game of Thrones  


I'm not a Game of Throne watcher, but I love a girl who can pull off a braid like she does. May we recommend our MiraCurl tutorial for inspiration? For this, you'll need her signature blonde braided hair, but also boho inspired, loose clothes. She loves a good halter top too! We love the idea of a wrap skirt under leggings or cargo pants paired with boots. Add a belt and you're done!

#5 Minions from Despicable Me


HOW CUTE ARE MINIONS? This costume is simple: a yellow top under overalls and some goggles and black gloves. If you paint your face and wear a bald cap too, you'll be the talk of the party.

#6 Cast of Orange is the New Black 
 

Arguably one of the hottest shows this year, it was all we talked about in the office! If you're going in a huge group, this would make an awesome costume. Or, try being Alex and Piper if you're a duo. All you'll need is a black/blonde wig, glasses for Alex and an orange jumpsuit. You can easily find a 'convict' costume at the store, but I like the idea of buying an orange jumpsuit that's slightly cooler and you can wear again!
