One of the best parts of spring—at least from a beauty perspective—is the flurry of exciting new fragrance launches. Put away your musky and more concentrated scents and go for something lighter, fresh and modern.

Here are some of our favourite new fragrances:

Fruity
Fruity fragrances are perfect for summer. Fresh and feminine with a hint of floral will have you swept up in the romance of warm summer nights.

(1) An update of the popular L'Air de Temps, Nina Ricci L'Air de Nina Ricci (from C$80, available in May) exudes an air of Parisian luxe.
Top Notes: honeysuckle, freesia and violet leaves; Middle Notes: magnolia, jasmine and Bulgarian rose; Base Notes: patchouli and palisander wood.

(2) Inspired by the way love sweeps you off your feet, Bath & Body Works Carried Away ($29.50 USD) is fresh and fruity.
Top Notes: lush raspberries, meter lemon and mandarin; Middle Notes: purple freesia, white jasmine and soft violet petals; Base Notes: creamy sandalwood, whipped vanilla and musk.

(3) Marc Jacobs Splash Cranberry (from $68 USD) is the exotic part of the limited edition lineup of Splash fragrances.
Top Notes: cranberry and mandarin; Middle Notes: red currant, ginger flower and honeysuckle; Base Notes: exotic woods and ice-cold musks.

Floral
A great fit for day or night, wistful floral fragrances will have you feeling delicate and sweet.

(4) Prada's highly anticipated Infusion de Rose (from $120 CDN, available mid April) smells of delicate rose petals.
Top Notes: Turkish and Bulgarian rose; Middle Notes: Italian mandarin and peppermint; Base Notes: Brazilian mate and beeswax.

(5) Lancôme O d'Azure ($84.50) will have you dreaming of the blue skies and white beaches to come this summer.
Top Notes: Calabrian lemon and bergamot; Middle Notes: pink pepper, peony and Turkish rose petals; Base Notes: ambrette seed and musk.

Woody/Oriental
Ideal for evening, these woody and oriental scents are sensual and modern.

(6) The first perfume from Jimmy Choo (from $73) is a warm scent made for confident women.
Top Notes: fresh green; Middle Notes: tiger orchid and toffee meld; Base Notes: woody musk, patchouli and creamy caramel.

(7) Vera Wang Preppy Princess ($50 CDN) combines feminine charm with modern spirit.
Top Notes: crushed berries, tangerine and apple; Middle Notes: honeysuckle and jasmine; Base Notes: coconut water and sensual woods.

(8) David Yurman Exotic Essence (from$85 USD) is a uniquely sensual fragrance.
Top Notes: sparkling mandarin; Middle Notes: Casablanca lily, rose petals and patchouli; Base Notes: vanilla absolute, amber, peach skin.

Which fragrance are you most excited to try? Do you prefer fruity, floral or woody and oriental fragrances once the weather turns warmer?

I'm not a floral girl, but am head over heels for the new David Yurman scent! Now it's all I want to wear. I was huge on Thierry Mugler's Womanity, but DY is much softer and such a lovely change.

I have the Marc Jacobs Splash in Rain and it's my summer favourite! Will have to give Cranberry a go next.

The woody and oriental scents are my favourite. I was never a big perfume girl until a year or so ago, now I love them!
