Back to School Beauty

The phrase "back to school" will either excite you or fill you with dread. For me it was always the latter. I always preferred "the real world" to the bubble of being in school. For starters, not being in school allows you to work a 'real' job rather than a part time gig, enjoy the weekends instead of toiling over papers on mundane topics, and no longer relying on lazy classmates for group projects.

However, being in school has certain advantages when it comes to wardrobe and beauty. There isn't much of a dress code. Anything goes really. Live on campus and want to roll out of bed two minutes before your class with tousled hair, sleep in your eyes and baggy pajama pants? You totally can. Feel like experimenting with electric blue mascara and matching eyeliner? Go for it. No one from HR is going to pull you aside and suggest you wait for Halloween.

If you're going back to school this fall, use this an an opportunity to experiment and have some fun with your makeup. CoverGirl recently unleashed their new Eye Enhancers, a collection of brightly coloured hues that are perfectly playful. Wear the eye popping purple on Monday, the pink on Tuesday and a lime green on Wednesday. For a few bucks a pop it's a minor investment and will help you discern which colours work best for you.

If you prefer a more sophisticated dash of colour, try CARGO's new city palettes. Toronto is a gorgeous selection of smokey blues, grays and sparkling black. Tahiti is a stunning selection of gorgeous breezy colours that are sure to inspire.

If you are a more classic Chick, why not play up the old Hollywood trend with strong red lipstick, crisp black eyeliner and two thick coats of mascara. Your Prof will have no choice but to give you A's with those flirty lashes blinking at him in the front row - though don't go all Indiana Jones and write love messages on your eyelids. That would be taking it too far, no?

M.A.C's Russian Red is a popular classic that looks good on nearly anyone. If it's too strong for daytime, wear it sheer for your classes and then go all out in the evenings.

CoverGirl's Line Exact liquid liner is fool proof and stays put all day long without leaving creases or rubbing off on your upper eyelid.

Maybelline's Volum' Express Colossal mascara will make your eyes pop, giving a nice boost to your lashes, while keeping them silky soft all day.

If you are a Babe on the go with very little time for makeup, a swipe of lip gloss and a coat of mascara always looks fresh and natural.

What's your makeup routine for school?

My makeup routine for school includes:

- Lancome Projectionist High Definition Mascara (until this one runs out, it's a sample)
- Milani Easy Liner for Eyes Retractable Pencil in Black
- N.Y.C. Liquid Eye Liner in Black
- Classic Chaptsick in Cherry

:) works well for me!

I was always in a rush and found that a quick once-over with my favorite foundation helped disguise the ravages of a late night cram session. A little mascara and lip balm, and while I didn't look made up, I certainly looked less scary ;)
