Backstage Beauty: Joe Fresh Fall 2011

Joe Fresh has made fans with their on trend clothes at amazing prices. For their Fall 2011 runway presentation at LG Fashion Week they kept the beauty ethos just as democratic—the luxe for less beauty message on models was said with easy hair and rich, gold eyes.

Hair

Lead hair artist for LG Fashion Week and official hair artist and colourist for L'Oréal Paris, Eric Del Monaco curled hair at the base of the skull one rotation leaving the top and ends alone. The effect was a kink, or slight wave, halfway down the shaft. First, hair was blown dry with a round brush to get out any natural wave or curl at the root. Next, hair was parted down the centre and divided into seven sections from the top of the head down to the neck and each was prepped with hairspray before being curled. Once all sections had been curled with a large barrel curling iron the hair was finger combed out.

Makeup and Runway

For the base, artistic director for LG Fashion Week and official makeup artist for L'Oréal Paris Eddie Malter applied L'Oréal Paris Visible Lift Line Minimizing Makeup, saying it would look sheer from far away on the runway. Cheeks were given a subtle glow with a soft pink blush and highlighted with Malter's secret weapon, a luminous, pale eyeshadow. The stand out on the face was the rich gold eye. Malter mixed two eye shades to get the effect: an intense yellow and a metallic gold. Lips were left spare using a nude beige that toned down any pink in models' natural hue.

I don't really get the point of curling my hair like that. It doesn't look like they did anything except that she just woke up in the morning and came to work. Still, I guess it's something different.

Those hair beauty shots remind me of my grade 9 days - I would spend at least 45minutes curling my hair like that back then.
