Beauty School: How to Apply False Eyelashes Part 2

I hope our article on applying false eyelashes has inspired you to rock a pair yourself. Still have questions? Check out our Falsie FAQ:

How do I pick the right pair of false eyelashes for me?

Finding the right pair of false eyelashes depends on the look you are going for. For a more natural look, choose a pair of false eyelashes that mimics real eyelashes, but longer in length and more dense. For more dramatic flare, pick a pair that is even longer and thicker. False lashes that are slightly longer on the outer edge will definitely give you that cat eye look with extra oomph. If you still want to take it up a notch, ones with feathers, rhinestones or patterns will do just the trick.

How do I remove false eyelashes?

The standard way of removing false eyelashes is to use an oil-base remover, but if you’re planning to clean and reuse them, I’d just gently tug it to peel off. If you do find yourself having a hard time peeling or if it’s stuck with your real eyelashes, take a Q-tip soaked with some oil-base makeup remover and just go over the area that is stuck.

How long does one pair of false eyelashes last?

If you ask a beauty expert or salesperson, many of them will tell you to throw it out after one use. Since they can be quite pricey if I only use them once (and I use them everyday), I cheat by using them about 3 times, depending how well they up, making sure to clean them. I’ve never had a problem or infection with false eyelashes, but everyone’s different so be cautious.

How do you clean your false eyelashes?

I tend to stay away from oil based makeup remover since I find that it does affect how the falsies hold up. I put the falsies on my palm, then gently rub a delicate cream cleanser in the direction of the hair. Rinse with lukewarm water, pat it with paper towel and leave it to air dry.

Cleansing and moisturizing must be done to prepare the lid and
foundation must be applied first. The falsies must be hold to your lash
line to have a little measuring and trim the falsies for your own
perfect fit. Make sure that the outer corner is longer as usually as the
natural eyelashes have. As long as you have the perfect cut an adhesive
is put onto the falsies then dried for a few time before putting it in
the lash line.

I have never used false eyelashes before but after reading here how to care for them, I think I am confident enough to get some. I have naturally small lashes, and that doesn't look too ladylike.
