Beauty Test Drive: We Try Out 4 New Products

Here at CA HQ, we're fortunate enough to be able to try out amazing new beauty products. And there are a ton of amazing ones. In fact, so many products cross our desks each month, that it sometimes takes an extra special product to make us sit up and really take notice. These past few weeks have been a record for us, because quite a few beauty products have seriously made us say, "ohhh, now that's interesting!"

We decided to take a few of these brand spankin' new products for a spin in a beauty test drive to give you the low down on whether or not they're worth your hard earned cash. We're testing out Philosophy Full of Promise Restoring Eye DuoL’Oreal Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Glow Renewal Facial Oil, Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Treatment Mask and The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil.

Maggie tested out L’Oreal Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Glow Renewal Facial Oil (C$29.99). It's pretty cool because it's L'Oreal Paris' first ever facial oil and contains 8 essential and precious oils. The oil is made to moisturize but also soothes and calms the skin and regenerates collagen and elastin. It's light weight and absorbs quickly into the skin.

Maggie gave this oil a thumbs up of approval: "I have only been using it for a short time now, but I must say the results are noticeable.  It gives my skin a really beautiful glow. It also smells amazing." Read her full review here.

Miranda tried out Philosophy Full of Promise Restoring Eye Duo (C$68.00). What we thought was pretty special about this eye cream was that it's a double ended product with a side to target the upper and a side to target the lower eye areas. The upper-lid lifting gel helps improve the appearance of droopy upper eyelids for a more youthful, awake look. The undereye firming cream helps replump and firm undereyes.

Miranda loved the eye cream and gave it her seal of approval. Here's what she had to say: "I love the 2-in-1 dispenser and I am amazed by how quickly this product works. In [just a week it reduced] my eye puffy-ness and dark circles." Get her full review here.

I tested out The Body Shop's new Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil (C$16.00). I'm new to oil cleansing and I was eager to test out a cleansing oil from The Body Shop since it's new to the brand. It's also an excellent price!

I found it very moisturizing and though I was hesitant to try cleansing with oil, I ended up really enjoying the silkiness of the formula and oil cleansing in general. I think this is going to be part of my regular beauty routine from now on. My one complaint is that I found I needed to first use a makeup removing wipe. More deets on the product right here.

I also tried Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Treatment Mask (C$15.97) and had mixed feelings about it. I'm not new to sheet masks, but this is one of the first North American sheet masks that I've ever seen. It was super hydrating and in fact, the box boasts that each mask contains 1/2 a bottle of serum. I didn't feel like the hydrating serum really absorbed into my skin and I would have liked a longer lasting feeling. You can read more over here.

What products have you been trying out lately? Or which of these has caught your eye?

I would love to try the Full of Promise Restoring Eye Duo, it looks like a fantastic product, now if only it weren't so expensive...

I've been trying out the Olay Age-Defying 2 in 1 anti-wrinkle day cream plus serum and the Olay Age-Defying eye cream for the past month or so. At first I didn't think I was getting any where, how ever in the past week or so I have notice a big difference and all for the better. I'll be writing a review for both soon.
