Chocolate Sugar Cookies Recipe

In my house, these are called Chocolate Bears.  Largely because the recipe is from Build a Bear and came with a bear shaped cookie cutter.  These are ridiculously addictive, so consider yourself forewarned.

Ingredients:
3 C Flour
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1 C Unsalted Butter
1 1/2 C Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
2/3 C Cocoa Powder

Directions:
Go to Build a Bear.  Build a bear.  Get bear cookie cutter with accompanying recipe cards, plate and spatula.  Have child play with said bear while you bake cookies.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

In a large bowl whisk flour, salt and baking powder.  In a separate bowl mix butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and cocoa.  Gradually add flour mixture, beating until smooth.  Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour.

On a lightly floured surface, roll one portion of dough at a time to approx 1/8 inch thickness.  Cut cookies into bears and place on pan.

Bake for 7 to 8 minutes or until edges are firm to the touch.

Inhale.
