Cocktail Dresses and Accessories for the Holidays with the Ladies of The Coveteur
What are you wearing this holiday season? If you're anything like me, when the holidays roll around you're all about getting that fab new dress for New Years or the numerous Christmas parties you need to attend but you seem to get a little stuck for ideas.
ChickAdvisor got the chance to speak to the lovely ladies- designer Erin Kleinberg and stylist Stephanie Mark of the blog The Coveteur. They gave us the low down on this season's hottest trends!
The Trend: Lace and Textures
(from left) Lulu's One Shoulder Black Dress (US$68.00) , Banana Republic Lace Glimmer Dress (C$240.00), Anthropologie Light & Lace Dress (US$258.00)
Lace doesn't seem to be going anywhere these days! For something new and fresh, look for more modern cuts like cutouts or a lace sleeve. Vintage 50's or 60's style dresses in lace are also popular. If lace isn't your thing, try a more textured fabric with interesting details.
The Trend: Colour
(from left) TopShop Moss Crepe Drape Dress (C$60.00), Asos Midi Dress with One Shoulder & Corsage (US$136.35), Banana Republic Monogram One Shoulder Dress (C$215.00)
Stephanie and Erin suggest looking for jewel tones this holiday season, colour blocking as a trend continues from the summer as well.
The Trend: Sequins
(from left) Lulu's Gold Blinger Sequin Dress (US$92.00), RW+Co Tiered Sequin Dress (C$88.00), Asos TFNC Babydoll Dress with Sequin Bodice (US$76.36)
(from left) Banana Republic Strapless Sequin Sheath (C$185.00), Aidan Mattox Sequined Fit-and-Flare Dress (US$295.00), Forever 21 Exposed Black Sequin Dress (C$45.80)
It's no secret that I love a good sequin and Stephanie and Erin seem to agree with me! As they put it, 'sequins are the new black'! Go casual with a sequin tank and jeans or go all out in a sequinned dress. Metallic colours like gold, gun metal and silver continue to shine (excuse the pun)!

I know it may be a bit little girly looking but I REALLY want the gold sparkle dress- I get that it may make me look like a sparkly cupcake but I seriously do not care- LOVE it!
LOVE these looks. I really want to get that RW&CO;Shimmer Pashmina, so pretty! I just bought a sequin dress a few weeks ago and am totally gonna rock it for the holiday season. It's black and merges with silver sequins towards the hem (the cut of the dress is similar to the Forever 21 one above).
I really, really, REALLY, want the ASOS Midi Dress with One Shoulder & Corsage in Enamel Blue soooo bad!
Alex you're killing me here!!LOL |
