Most girls hit the peak of boy-craziness in their teens.

But then again, I’m not most girls.  No, nearly ten years after I left high school I’ve found myself in the heaviest crush mode of my life. 

I have crushes on movie stars (oh hey, Team Edward), crushes on casual acquaintances, crushes on the dudes who serve me coffee and the dudes who deliver my lunch via bicycle.  I have crushes on boys I see in bars, boys I see crossing the street as I drive by and boys who share the elevator with me in the morning.  I have crushes on boys who play guitar and boys who make me laugh and boys who seem like they’d know how to fix it if I broke something in my apartment.  I have crushes on boys I know through Twitter (21st Century love story alert!) and boys who live on other continents and boys who are straight up bad news.

I’m sure there are numerous scientific and biological explanations for the fact that I want to tackle nearly every dude I see and make him brush my hair and call me pretty while I talk about my feelings, but here’s my theory: it’s about to get cold, and those of us in sub-arctic climates know that when the snow falls, you grab someone and hibernate.

So, men of the North (and Brazil), you’ve been warned. It’s Boyfriend Season, and the hunt is on.
