Cream Blush: A Beach-Bag Staple

There's something about the summer heat that makes me lazy every morning. Maybe it's that I'm in a hurry to enjoy the day. Maybe it's because I don't want to cake on too too much makeup if I'm going to sweat it all off by lunch. But the remedy for all that is the perfect cream blush. The silky formula of a cream blush adds a little freshness to dry summer skin, and it's the perfect size to throw in a beach bag for use on cheeks and lips throughout the day.

1. Joe Fresh Cheek Tint (C$4.00) comes in a range of pretty colours, and you can’t beat the price. So throw caution to the wind and buy three.
2. Benefit Cha Cha Tint ($36.00) is the latest addition to Benefit’s family of cheek tints. This mango-tinted stain is a perfect addition to this summer’s orange obsession.
3. If Bashful of The Seven Dwarfs fame ever went on a cruise Gosh Cream Blusher Stick (C$14.00) is the shade he’d be rocking on deck.
4. The Body Shop Tailored Cheek Tint (C$15.50) has packaging designed by University of the Arts London for a limited edition collection.
5. Nars The Multiple (C$39.79) is the original multi-use cream blush. You’re sure to find one of the 13 different shades to complement your tan this summer.
6. Europe plans to be paraben-free by the end of 2011, but Tarte Natural Beauty Cheek Stain (US$30.00) is way ahead of the curb, also excluding sulfates, petro-chemicals, and synthetic fragrances and dyes from their blush. What you do get is a natural “I’m so flattered to meet you” blush.
7. Smashbox O-Glow (C$26.00) changes colour based on your own skin chemistry, to find the perfect shade of pink for you.
8. Beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil are listed among the ingredients of DaLish Lip/Cheek Balm (C$8.95), so it will add a touch of colour to your cheeks with a little nourish your skin to boot.

Full marks for O-Glow! I LOVE it! The colour is brilliant, and because of its unique chemistry - it perfectly matches my various summer skin tones! Best of all, it has a light gel-like consistency, and so it doesn't feel heavy on the skin (like many cream blushes do), which on a hot summer's day, is key! Plus, I use it as a lip-stain as well. 2for1 makeup for $26CAD? Amazing!

I really like Joe Fresh's cream blushes (not pictured here). They are inexpensive and easy to apply.
