Daily Dose of Adorable: Meet the Newly Discovered 'Olinguito'
There's a new kid in town. Meet the olinguito: a species discovered just a day ago. For years it went misunderstood and misclassified, but it's time to shine a spotlight on this cute teddy bear-cat hybrid. It almost reminds me of a long, fluffy cat with a bear face and claws with chubby hind legs. They're the smallest member of the raccoon family. Weird. But pretty cute, no?
It's pronounced oh-lin-ghee-toe and it weighs just two pounds and is nocturnal! They live in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador and Colombia in something called 'cloud forests' which means that the trees are so high up that they are covered by clouds. Which could explain they're reluctance at being discovered.

OMG So friggin' cute! | |
He's so so cute!! I was watching a show last year where these nature photographers discovered a new fur fellow. I can't recall where it was, but I do remember they were on an island very high up in the mountains of a jungle. He looked a lot like this little guy only he was even cuter if that's even possible. I believe they also found him at night. Our world still has so much more to show and teach us! |
