Del Monaco Hair Studio Open to the Public

My favourite, Eric Del Monaco has finally opened his own salon in Toronto and I was the first in line. Well, technically one person (a ChickAdvisor reader!) managed to squeak in before me, but she was a doll so I let it go.

As many of you know, I've been a big Eric fan since I met him backstage at Toronto Fashion Week to interview him about the hair styles he created for the designers with L'Oreal Paris. I also interviewed him for an embarrassing episode of ChickChat TV, where we revealed that many attending Fashion Week didn't have a sweet clue about the Canadian fashion scene. For more of my history with Eric, you can read about it here.

I have been getting haircuts from Eric for a few years, but nothing beat having one at his own salon last week at Richmond and Spadina. It's such a thrill to watch a friend have a vision for something and see it through so wonderfully.

Though it was the first day and the salon had just opened, Del Monaco Hair Studio was already bustling. Between Eric's loyal clients and those who got the scoop early (you're welcome!) he was fully booked that day and into the following week.

Eric's impeccable style is reflected in the clean airy space. Crisp white decor and concrete floors with high ceilings are accented by a bit of purple sparkle at each station. As he snipped an inch off my ends, he confided with a giggle that the square purple crystal drawer handles were his own indulgence. "I needed a bit of bling."

I left with glorious long shiny curls, sans split ends and a smile on my face from a great time spent with a friend.
