DIY Cocoa Coffee Face Mask

| Wednesday November 16, 201115 comments

We've been talking DIY facials for a few weeks now.  While those recipes featured simple pantry staples like apples, oats, and egg whites, this one goes a little more exotic for a fun - yet highly effective - twist.

This cocoa-coffee face mask will work to heal breakouts, thoroughly cleanse skin, and make you glow!

½ cup creme fraiche (substitute with sour cream, plain yogurt or buttermilk in a pinch)
5 Tbsp coffee beans (ground or instant coffee will work too)
4 Tbsp fresh cocoa butter (available at most health food stores)
½ tsp cool water

Grind coffee beans to a fine texture.  Mix cocoa butter with coffee grinds until smooth.

In a separate bowl combine cool water and cream.  Wisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir together until smooth and silky.

Prep your skin by washing it with a gentle face wash.  Paint or apply with gentle fingers onto your facial skin and leave to set for 25-30 mins.  Rinse with lukewarm water.  That's it!

I think the caffeine would really perk up my skin, esp first thing in the morning. There are a lot of beauty products that include caffeine these days, so this is a much cheaper way to try it before you buy it!

I think I would lightly massage this into the face as well for a bit of a face scrub from the ground coffee.

That's the first time I've seen a DIY mask with coffee in it. Would love to try this one. :D
