D.I.Y. Decor: Create Your Own Designer Lampshade
I saw this in a magazine listed as a top tip of designers. It's something I've never heard of before, but apparently painting the inside of a black lampshade shocking pink or red is not only a design statement, it creates softer mood lighting. Since I'm such a newbie to this whole D.I.Y business, I thought this fool-proof project had my name all over it. I got a gorgeous can of pink paint (it's Peony 2079-30) from our friends at Benjamin Moore. In my opinion, it's the perfect shade of pink.
For this project you will need a small can of paint, a small roller, a black lampshade and some plastic wrap.
Wrap the outside of the shade with plastic to avoid any unsightly splotches. Pour the paint into a plastic tray and using your small roller, carefully paint the interior of the shade. It needs to be really even or you may see the flaws through the shade when the light is on. Let it dry.
I have to say the final result is kind of cool! It's more of an artsy feel, but understated. What do you think?
