Imagine this- a fireplace, you, a cozy blanket, your favourite DVD and mug full of peppermint mocha latte- sounds like heaven, doesn't it? Why not try this recipe tonight and make it an 'all about me' type of evening? Place the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on your door and indulge yourself in this delicious drink- I guarantee it won't disappoint!
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups of milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup of chocolate syrup
1-2 shots espresso
1/8 tsp of Salt
1-2 shots espresso
Peppermint Extract (to taste)
Makes approximately 2 servings or mugs
Step 1: Pour 2/12 cups of milk into saucepan on medium heat. Stir in vanilla. Heat until steaming.
Step 2: Take off heat and pour in chocolate syrup. Add in pinch of salt and stir until well mixed. Pour in peppermint extract and stir, it is important to note that it is an extremely strong flavour. Do not add more than a half capful!
Step 3: Whisk the mixture together until frothy and pour into mug! Feel free to drink as is for a non- caffeinated yummy mocha drink. If you want a quick pick-me-up, pour in desired amount of espresso (about one shot per mug).

Gingerbread Latte is next on our hit list! Great minds obviously think alike, Hot Cuppa! ;)
Wow, I feel like you're reading my mind. I LOVE these holiday flavours from the cafes, but they can get pricey. Your DIY recipes are so timely!! By the way, another favorite flavour is the Gingerbread Latte that Starbucks and Second Cup introduce about this time every year. Do you have a recipe idea for that, by any chance?
This was so yummy to drink on a fall night- I made mine without espresso so it was more of a hot peppermint chocolate drink and it was DELICIOUS! Just be careful not to add too much peppermint- that extract is strong! |
