Easter Decorating, DIY, Food and Dessert Round Up

I've said this before but I am a big fan of Easter. Well, actually I am a big fan of Cadbury Creme Eggs but those come out at Easter which means, in turn, I am a very big fan of Easter. I love all the preparation that goes into Easter, the decorating, the food and of course, the chocolate! I rounded up some of the best, most creative ideas I could find for this Easter season, but the fabulous part is even if you aren't as Easter-centric as I am, you can double duty these ideas for any spring event or party, you might be having.

Decorating

Who knew jelly beans could be delicious and useful for decorating a table? Adding some colour to a large glass candle holder, or any jar makes an otherwise everyday object a gorgeous spring item! These jelly bean- cupcake paper flowers would be an easy but cute craft for the long weekend!

An egg wreath or colourful wooden eggs are an easy way to add some fun for Easter decorating. You could easily create your own versions of these and get as intricate or simple as possible.

April showers bring May flowers! Get crafty and cute with all sorts of wildflowers for Easter. I love all the gorgeous hues you can use at this time of the year. You don't need to get complicated either, flowers in a mason jar or tied together with twine in a wine glass looks simple but chic

Food and Dessert

Easter is the perfect holiday for all things sweet! Shortbread and sugar cookies are great because they can be decorated with icing and fondant. I also love these pastel coloured macarons, they are almost too good looking to eat! Almost.

You know those sugar coated marshmallow chicks called Peeps? Confession: I love them. Yes, they are kind of gratuitously sugary but they are so cute! Even if you won't be eating them, they make great decoration for a table or a cupcake. Peep candy skewers are easy and so pretty, or dip them in chocolate with some sprinkles for a kid friendly dessert.

Cake pops are the dessert du jour and while these ones are on the challenging side, some simple cake pops in great spring colours are sure to wow the family. I also found this wonderful recipe for mini bird nests made out of, wait for it, cookie dough!

Easter might be all about the sweets, it's still nice to wake up to a nice brunch! We rounded up some awesome new ways to cook eggs this past week but here are a few more things we found roaming on the internet. Personal faves include the bunny beard and the chick eggs, so cool, right? You can show your love with a heart shaped egg, either fried with this clever tool or hard boiled, instructions found here

DIY Style

It's time to get crafty chicks, check out this awesome ideas: to keep all your treasure hunting finds together, create some bunny bags or paper carrots. An Easter garland made from felt, paper or ribbon is simple to make and looks so sweet on a mantle! While dying eggs is fun it isn't for everyone, try some non dying egg decorating options like crepe rabbits or using glue to then roll in glitter.

I love the idea of making your very own hollow eggs and filling them with a surprise. These remind me of mini pinatas! This would make an amazing gift for any little ones when filled with candy! A tutorial for a vintage inspired rabbit puppet is a great way to spend a day off, and as always, put those DIY skills to use and use your crafts to decorate a table, wall or for displaying your desserts- they can be fun and functional

How will you chicks be spending your long weekend?

Wow! I'm with everyone here - everything's so colourful and cute and even the foods are great decoration pieces! I really like the flowers in a jar too and thinking of my place, that's the one thing i can quickly implement and it won't look off with the rest of the decor.

What I love about these are that even though they are pretty 'easter-y' they are mostly just fabulous ideas for any spring event or decorating. I especially love the idea of simple, gorgeous and colourful flowers in jars!

These are all wonderful idea's, thanks Alex. We're not doing much this year, just having a big pig out dinner. It's just not the same when the kids get older, I miss all the fun stuff.

Wow~ what great ideas. The flowers make me feel so "springy" & I love the "egg bunny". I can't but be intrigued with the bunny bread. I make bread from scratch every weekend as my family loves it but I never thought of making so much fun.Love that idea~not a buuny perhaps (I may not be that artistic) but fun. Thanks Alex
