Easy Apple Crumble Recipe
(or at least, this is supposed to be easy to make if you don't get carried away with the flour and cinnamon.)
This apple crumble dessert is silly good and makes your house smell absolutely delicious. Here's what you need:
Ingredients
6-8 Apples
2 cups Oatmeal
1/4 cup Flour
3/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Maple Syrup (only the real stuff please!)
3/4 cup Butter, softened
1/2 cup raw or roasted/unsalted Almonds, chopped (optional)
2 Tbsp Cinnamon
Pinch of salt
First, let's get the hard stuff out of the way. Core, peel and chop your apples. Since we can all agree this an arduous task, pour yourself a yummy glass of Chardonnay to keep you company. I recommend J. Lohr or Ontario's Jackson Triggs.
Next, add 1 Tbsp of the cinnamon. If you decide to free hand it rather than measure, your apples may end up looking like sweet potato fries (pictured). This is too much cinnamon. This is way too much cinnamon. But to start from scratch with a new batch of apples would be horrible, wouldn't it? And besides you don't have any left. Remain calm, take another swig of your wine and add your sugar.
Hint: If you overdose on cinnamon, you need to add more sugar. Eat a slice or two until you get the taste you want.
Pour the apples into your baking dish and prep the crumble. I highly recommend a food processor if you are going to incorporate the almonds because you'll be done in a jiffy. If you're wondering, this is a KitchenAid 13-Cup and it's my new best friend in the kitchen. Add the almonds and chop on a medium setting until they look like this:
Add your oatmeal, brown sugar, flour, butter, syrup, remaining cinnamon and pinch of salt and blend on medium for about 30 seconds or until it looks like this:
Top your apples with the crumble and pop the whole thing in your oven at about 350 for 30 minutes. The crisp will be slightly golden when finished. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or just a spoon.

I LOVE apple crumble and I have lots of apple slices in my freezer that I prepped and froze from a good crop this year.I like to also add blueberries now and then into a crumble.Yum!Thanks for sharing I love the idea of pure maple syrup in this recipe.
Becky, yes you could use cinnamon sticks if you can grind them really fine. If you have a food processor like this it will be no problem.
Looks great, thanks! I think I can actually smell it from here..lol. I'm going to try it this weekend
You can come over to my place and make cinnamon-y apple crumble any day of the week!

We love apple crumble in our house too (slightly different recipe, but close). Much healthier than apple pie - yum!
