Easy Holiday Dessert Recipe: The Best Brownie Ever
I encourage cheating in two areas in life: when playing 'Go Fish!' and when baking (especially during the holidays). Just think: you're running around, decorating, cooking and you're not even finished your shopping and you're also expected to bake an amazing dessert? Do what I do, take the easy way out and cheat a little!
This recipe, for what I think is probably the best brownie ever, cuts corners by allowing you to use a baking mix for your brownie base instead of doing it entirely from scratch. If you are however, keen on giving Martha Stewart a run for her money, why not check out this forum on brownie recipes.
This dessert is a decadent and indulgent treat- perfect for the holiday dinner or party! On top of your brownie base, there is a layer of peanut butter cups and peanuts and then a layer of peanut butter chocolate and rice krispies- ummm... delicious much?
This brownie is a peanut lover's dream and a peanut allergy sufferer's worst nightmare so becareful and happy eating!
What you'll need:
1 batch brownies from mix or scratch
1/2 cup salted peanuts (you can substitute unsalted by adding in a pinch of sea salt)
1 cup chopped peanut butter cups
1 3/4 cup milk chocolate chips
1 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 tablespoon butter1 1/2 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
Directions:
Mix brownies according to directions however, bake them for about 5-10 minutes less than directed. They should be gooey but too liquidy.
Remove and top with peanuts and chopped peanut butter cups, I like to stir mine before hand in a bowl to get a nice mixture of both throughout. Bake for 4-6 minutes more.
While they are in the oven, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter. Put in microwave to melt (yay, cheating!) for about 30-45 seconds. After removing, mix together to blend. Stir cereal into mixture.
Remove brownies from oven and evenly pour chocolate mixture over top.
I loosely covered my batch in tinfoil and set in fridge. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Tip: Use a square glass pan, I used a round tin pan and had trouble cutting my pieces out.
And there you have it- a fool proof recipe for amazing brownies with as little effort and time as possible!

haha i can tell you first hand that these little guys were delicious.... i love how the peanut butter and brownie's creaminess were offset by the crunchiness of the Rice Krispies... think i'm going to grab one soon. I'm never opening this article up ever again - makes me want to eat every single time i do.
@AlexJC No, they aren't! It's so wrong, right? Don't worry that's not what I'm actually doing. Just ask Alex. Or don't.
@Takoda I made a special trip down to the grocery store for these because like you- I didn't have everything I needed but I want to try experimenting with some other ingredients for these- I think maybe pretzels instead of rice krispies? Or maybe another type of chocolate instead of peanut butter cups would totally be delicious!
Alex mentioned you brought these in yesterday and that they were delicious! I'm jealous but also glad I didn't have any since the fat content far exceeds the 6 almonds I'm supposed to snack on. (who does that??)
This looks so good! Now I feel like baking, so I'm off to find something to bake. I'd try these, but I don't have every thing needed to make them. |
