Edgy Trend: The Turban
The turban has been on the fashion radar for a while, notably since Prada's Spring collection of 2007. Though slow to gain mainstream momentum in the past few years, designers brought them out again for Spring 2011.

The difference this time is, celebs are wearing the look on the street, in the movies, and even at Fashion Week itself.

Is this enough of an endorsement for you to try this edgy trend? The best part is you can repurpose your favourite scarves to create a turban using this handy dandy How-To tutorial - no need to spend money on a quirky fad.

I don't like them for religious purposes because I know a lot of people who wear them and don't bathe (I can just imagine the state of their hair under these things), and I certainly don't like them as a fashion trend. The only time they should be worn is immediately after a shower when you're trying to dry your hair fast, but don't want to blow dry it.
I think it's a great trend! But it's one of those trends where only FEW can pull it off. I wish I could pull of that look... :(
It's not something I'd do but when worn right - on other people - it looks so trendy
I do not like this trend it reminds me of those turbie twists that were on info commercials for after a bath or shower.
I shunned this trend when it came out in '07 and got a smack down from some readers. Then our post was featured in the Prada book, which sits proudly in our boardroom. Funny how these things go.
I'm absolutely IN LOVE with the Olsen turban. It looks so chic on her! I have a similar scarf, I'd love to learn how to wrap it into a turban like that.
Wow, this is probably the worst trend I've seen in a long time! And also slightly offensive for those that actually wear it for religious purposes.
It may well be fashion forward, but my head is large enough as it is (seriously, I have a big skull) and so this will be a "Pass" for me. |
