Edgy Trends: The Crop Top

| Sunday April 11, 20104 comments
The belly-baring trend from the '80s is back as one of the hottest looks of the season.  Take our warning - this is one style that can go from trendy to tragedy in a New York minute if you don't have the sleek physique to match.

Whether super short and made of leather or boxy with a floral print, the Crop Top has been spotted in fashion magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar and an undeniable runway staple for months.  Hitting the racks at trendsetting and mainstream stores alike such as H & M, Top Shop and Kitson Boutique in L.A., it's unavoidable that you'll see plenty of sinners and saints sporting the look all summer long.

Should you rock it?  The Crop can be cute, flirty and definitely fun, and if you have a trim waistline go ahead and flaunt it.  If you'd rather cover up, take a cue from Gisele and pair it with a tight tank or high-waisted trousers.

Is it a daring move worth the risk?  Let us know if you're sold on this edgy trend!

I love it! Takes me back to my high school days. I'm seriously considering buying a few.

True to the sitting...

I think those that are a little self concious could pair a cropped top with a tank underneath that was full lengh, or even just wear high waisted skirts or shorts to really get the look going.

Great for the beach too!

I think it's a cute look when you're standing or walking, I could pull it off if I was never going to sit down! Haha. Even the skinniest girls with the flattest stomachs don't look good with their belly exposed when sitting down, am I right?

I think it's a fun look for the summer.. but definitely best kept to those in their 20s who are good friends with the gym!
