Fierce Fall Makeup Preview

| Sunday August 23, 20092 comments
Fall beauty looks will be “fieerrce”! Yes, I said it. I’m channeling my inner Tyra because makeup this season will be fierce. Think vampy, sexy, opulent and bold. Don’t be coy because it’s all about getting noticed. Embrace the extreme whether it is a dark lip, intense smoked out eyes, or wild colour. Fall’s newest palettes will make any good girl want to go bad!

Bejewelled Eyes

My Picks:
(1) Benefit Velvet Eye Shadow in “I cannes and I will” (Golden Mulberry),
(2) Lancome Paris Palette Liberty in Indigo Royaute (Indigos made with real gold)
(3) Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Shadow in Bash (Emerald green)
(4) Estee Lauder Signature Design Eye Shadow Quad in Rose Gold

Be adorned in the hottest opulent shades this season! This rich look calls for shimmery metallic shadows. Whether it be plums, indigos, emerald greens, or golds these shades are worn best with neutral cheeks and lips. Keep the shimmer to a minimum. Make this look wearable by pairing with a matte cheek colour and creamy lip. For day, use a fluffy brush to deposit colour softly on the lids. For more smolder and drama, add a black liner or contour in the crease with a deeper shade.

Vampy Lips

My Picks:
(1) YSL Rouge Volupte SPF 15 #21 (Vibrant Brown)
(2) M.A.C. Hold The Pose Lipstick (Plum-brown, Make-Up Art Cosmetics Collection)
(3) Julie Hewett Cheekie in Vampie (Blood red)

On the runway, dark vampy lips look exquisite but let's face it – real life doesn’t happen on a runway. To make dark hues less scary for day, choose a sheer formulation in a gloss, lipstick, or stain. If you choose to wear a lipstick, prep your lips with a primer to prevent colour from bleeding. For a perfectly defined lip, choose a lip liner in the same shade as your lip colour. Go with neutral browns or golds on the eyes to off set this dark lip. Add some bronzer to the cheeks but don’t be afraid to wear a blush in the same tone as your lips. This will look ultra sexy and sophisticated!

Smoked Out Eyes

My Picks:
(1) Lancome Paris Palette Liberty in Or Liberte (Sparkling black made with read Gold)
(2) YSL Ombres 5 Lumieres in Midnight (Charcoals, silver, and plum)
(3) Bobbi Brown Creamy Eye Pencil in Jet (Black)

Smoky eyes never go out of style. This fall, smoky eyes are a bit wilder and more structured. Dark colour isn’t just smudged on the lid. Smoky shades in black and charcoal mixed with golds and silvers are extended past the eyes making your peepers appear bigger and wider. Smudge a pencil into your lash line then layer a dark shadow over top for some extreme intensity. Tip: Apply shadow first and save your foundation for last in case there is any fall off. Go safe and pair with a classic nude lip or go bold and rock a red lip!

Wild Colour

My Picks:
(1) Shu Uemura Painting Liner in Turquoise
(2) M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Purple Shower (Make-Up Art Cosmetics Collection)
(3) Annabelle Cosmetics Studio Pigment in LOL (Vibrant Yellow)

Believe it or not bright wild colours aren’t just for the warmer months. This season, beauty brands want to bring out your inner artist. Express your individuality with a swipe of turquoise near your lash line or add a dash of yellow to your lids to make those eyes pop. I love purples and pinks for soft day looks. Save bright turquoise, blues and yellows for a fun night out. Go for peaches and tawny shades on the cheeks and lips to compliment this bold palette.
