Finally! Gap Brings Online Shopping to Canada

Online shopping may be old news in the United States but Canadians have been waiting a loooong time for many major retailers to offer it to us.  Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy recently launched their portal, GapCanada.ca that lets you buy from all 3 retailers at once!  Isn't that convenient?  And for the moment, shipping is free for purchases over $50.  Sweet!
Gap finally does online shopping in Canada
I've already tried it myself, compliments of GAP and ordered myself the nifty cardigan pictured here.  Do you love it?  I also got the slim cropped pants that was an editor favourite at a recent media event.

In total, I spent a couple of hours on the site, picking a little of this and a little of that.  A bit addictive, I warn you!

My only beef with the process is that the packaging they send smaller orders in is quite lacking.  A plastic bag from their warehouse doesn't give you the same thrill that a neatly tissue wrapped package does from the store.  Something about getting an $85 sweater in a ball that urks me.  I asked GAP about this and was told that larger orders arrive in a box and so all is forgiven.

Will you shop online now or do you still prefer the in store experience?

I'm very nervous about buying online without previewing it first in stores. If I end up returning, then I've saved no time at all.

However, I know which GAP jeans suit me best, so tried & true stuff I would certainly buy online. Cheap items like t-shirts and other items that are not meant to tailor-fit I'd also buy by web. Anything fitted though is an automatic no-no.

I just love the convenience of picking out what I want from 3 stores at once and waiting for it to arrive instead of dragging myself to the store unless I'm really in the mood for shopping.

You can return everything by mail or in store and since shipping is free there's no gamble.

I compare prices...if it's cheaper to buy online, I try everything on in the store and buy online!

Nice to have this option though!
