Finding the Perfect Sweater Dress

Sweater dress, sweater dress, wherefore are thou sweater dress?
Lately I’ve been looking to jump on board the sweater dress bandwagon... I mean WHAT could be better than head to toe angora, wool or better yet, cashmere!
However, the wagon is taking off shortly and I’m still looking for the ticket counter. If I walk out of a change room wearing one more ‘tight and skimpy’ get up, I’m going to have to seriously consider bringing back the term, “Hoochie Mamma”.
Tight and skimpy – it’s everywhere. From the cheap and cheerful H&M to the trusted, conservative Banana Republic, designers must be predicting that the economic downturn will have a shrinking effect on consumers’ mid-sections.
As a professional woman in my thirties, this new trend has no place in the corporate environment (or ANY environment, really). Sure, I could probably veer away from my usual ‘S’ size, perhaps try something in a ‘M’ or ‘L’, but vanity sizing was created for a reason, and I’m not about to go against the grain on that one!
However, despite the skepticism I’m sharing with you today (It’s not always blue skies and red roses in trend spotting land), I’ll continue to hold out in the hopes that someone, somewhere will bring along a classic, elegant, sweater dress worthy of compliments from my colleagues, respect from my staff, and a prolonged stare from the coffee barista down the street.

I really want to wear a sweater dress, but I have shapely thighs, and I |
