Four DIY Decor Projects To Tackle in 4 Hours or Less

Since the deep winter freeze has hit us, I've been spending most of my time binge-watching Netflix. I've also been dying to try some great home décor DIY's. If I'm going to spending all my time indoors, it better be pretty. I've fallen off the DIY bandwagon lately and I've been itching to get back on. My only issue? Time. I want my DIY's to be quick so that I can still spend a hour or so winding down with a nice glass of wine and some serious Netflixing.

Here are four DIY home decor projects that you can tackle easily over the weekend while still being able to catch a few episodes on the 'flix.

DIY Super Cool Storage

Acrylic paints should do you just fine for this craft. Grab some inexpensive laundry hamper baskets, use painters tape (to get straight lines) and go to town with your designs and colours. It makes what should be an eyesore pretty cool. (via younghouselove.com

Fancy Frames

Search vintage or thrift shops for interesting, cool patterned scarves and put a frame on them for unique art. If you're a pack rat like me and have leftover wrapping paper or wall paper that you just can't bear to throw out, use it in a frame instead, or create a gallery effect by using many smaller frames all together. Easy Peasy Table Pieces

Find some simple, plain dishware (make sure they're oven safe) at the dollar store or your local discount store and while you're at it, pick up a pack of Sharpies as well. Have fun creating your own design and then pop those suckers in the oven to cure for 20 minutes. (via brit.co

Clipart

Use heavy duty stickies to mount small clipboards in columns on your wall. These are a great way of showing off kids art work, posting notes or using great graphics for a gallery style wall. (via madiganmade.com

I love that all of these ideas are inexpensive and quick! Plus, it's always nice to have objects in your home that you're proud of and can talk about/brag when someone asks! "Wow, I love the designs on your dishes!" "Thanks, I created them myself!" :)

I've been using patterned fabric to create wall art. It's so easy to do and once you're tired of the pattern you can easily swap the fabrics.

I love the scarf-art. I think it is so beautiful, as scarves can be so unique, and no two prints are complete duplicates.

Ideas 2 and 3 are going to tide me over this rainy season in the fraser valley!

Another idea for random stuff in picture frames that look nice: cut out your own or get your kids to do it - snowflakes. I was using origami paper and wrapping paper and scrap colorful paper this winter to make (free) customizable snowflakes to send to my family; now my mom has a section of wall dedicated to cut outs in frames - think Star Wars, Doctor Who, animals, hearts, Disney, Harry Potter, etc the ideas are endless!
