Fuchsia Lips, DIY Chandelier, & More

This week on the Style Collective, we're getting DIY for home and head; we're looking at a cool design idea for making maximum space out of a small place and forming a book club of one on the couch; and when we head out to the store, we're going to be sure and bring a handy list of great, inexpensive beauty buys and look for a fuchsia lipcolour out of our comfort zone.

Ever picked up a pretty, bold shade of lipstick and thought: "No way I can wear that." Whether you're afraid of deviating from your easy-to-swipe gloss, or you're worried about the maintenance of keeping a saturated shade looking fresh, Beautygeeks says it's just about training yourself to get used to bold moves, like she did with her fuchsia lip.

We remember stringing up little white lights around the bedroom of our first apartment to make the shabby space cheerier and more festive. It's not our nostalgia for those early days that's making us love Gifted's DIY chandelier but our love of a low fi approach to lighting and the simple symmetry of the wreath shape.

We admit we've scoffed at the turban here and there, but if you've been wanting to give it your own test drive try tying your own with a scarf you already own—you'll get to see whether the item works without the investment. I'm the It Girl also has instructions for tying your own turband, which feels like a great place to start with the trend.

When we were a little girl we were obsessed with doll house little miniatures. Here we are twenty-something (yes, that's a generous something, we know) years later and we're obsessed with another kind of miniature, the storage space in our own tiny-sized condo. At Home with Kim Vallée has some innovative storage ideas for stairs that have us wanting to say, "Welcome to our doll house."

Confession: we actually picked up The Help a while ago but just haven't, well, picked it up and started reading. Coco & Lowe's glowing review has us dusting it off and setting aside some time to get drawn into the world of Skeeter, Minny and Aibileen before the film adaptation comes out this summer.

There are two words that get our ears tingling: Good buy. Beauty Editor has seven beauty buys under $10 we can't wait to try out.

What are you excited to try this weekend?

I think you'd definitely have to get a contractor build the stairs/bed/storage combo. Not something you'd find at Ikea, ha!

I think the chandelier would be cool to do outside too, if you had waterproof lights and your patio had some kind of patio roof or lattice to hang it from. It'd look pretty with vines or something that climbs also growing around it.

Granted that you had a 'handy' guy/girl in your life, I wonder how easily you could create those storage stairs in your own home? I think they are the coolest thing, I'm all about the unique but practical!

Loving the staircase bed, although I'm wondering what the empty space to the left is for. Seems to me that'd be an ideal space for a short closet with hanging bar to store your dressier clothes?

And I love that chandelier idea - how cute!

I love those storage stairs - so practical and really adorable!

I read The Help a little while ago and was really impressed. It took me a little while to get into the storyline but once I did I couldn't put it down.
