Ali de Bold is the feisty Chick behind the brand. A one-time insurance stooge, her casual conversation one evening with then-fiancé Alex quickly snowballed into the site you love - ChickAdvisor! She has propelled this site to several major industry wins, while having a ton of fun with members at our signature offline events, such as the hugely popular ShopCrawls. She is also the busiest person I know, but I don't think she'd have it any other way!

Ali actually. My full name is Alison but my brother married an Alison and so it was decided that I'd be Ali and she'd be Alison. Truthfully I kinda like the way Ali de Bold sounds. People always think it's a fake name, or my favourite - that I am a man. "Did you know that 'Ali' is actually a man's name?"

What do you do in your spare time?

Ali:
I love watching movies, and any kind of exercise. In the summer I go on a lot of long walks. I love being outside when the weather is nice.

ChickAdvisor:
The last thing you think about before you go to sleep is?

Ali:
Did I email those people back yet? What am I going to wear tomorrow? How can I get Alex to stop snoring without waking him up? Sometimes I put outfits together in my head to help me fall asleep. Since my selection is pretty limited I get bored thinking about it. Works every time!

Who is your fashion Icon?

Ali:
I don't have one particular icon. I was a big fan of Tom Ford's work when he was at Gucci and still love what he is doing for menswear. I love the way Kim Newport-Mimran (Pink Tartan) dresses. Generally, I love a classic look and watching how the runway translates to the street.

How would you describe your closet?

A ridiculous waste of space. Who designs a pie-shaped closet? I have to be so picky about what I buy and what I keep because I have such limited space. I guess it's good because it forces me to really consider if I need something before buying it, but I'd love to have a normal square or rectangular shaped one day so I can organize it better.

Meeting Alex. I know that sounds cheesy but meeting him changed my life. He's more of a risk taker than I am and he convinced me to quit my insurance career, go back to school and start this company. I don't think I would've had the guts or been able to keep my sanity without his support. He's one awesome Dude.
