Julie-Anne Cleyn is a recent addition to the ChickAdvisor family!

The spunky Editorial Assistant was put to the test on her very first day when we subjected her to the posing wall. She took it like a pro, and so we decided to keep her. Though her editorial work on ChickAdvisor articles may be harder to spot (she makes us all look better correcting boo boos and grammatical blunders), you may have noticed her recent posts on this blog. We're thrilled to have her on our team and we think you'll like her too.

Who is your fashion icon?

Zooey Deschanel. Ever since I saw her in 500 Days of Summer I’ve been obsessed with her style. It’s feminine, classic and original. She also showcases it as a singer in the duo She and Him.

From inspiration to wardrobe, what is your current must-have accessory?


Julie-Anne
This winter, I’ve decided to accept the cold for what it is and have fun dressing for it. So right now, my must-have is wool socks. I got this pair from the Gap two years ago. I like wearing them over leggings with boots. They look great with a pair of vintage lace-up ankle boots that I recently bought from Kensington Market in Toronto.

Will you give us a peek in your closet?

I’m an organizational freak, and since my closet is small, I’m constantly reorganizing it to figure out how I can make the best use of the space. You may also notice that anything hung up is colour-coded.

In terms of what’s in it, I love fashion, and I’m a sucker for a beautiful form-fitting dress (of the likes of French Connection). My everyday clothes consist of jeans, leggings, velvet pants, cardigans, wool sweaters (winter fashion - remember?), and casual dresses.

Have you ever committed a serious fashion faux-pas?

I probably shouldn’t have bought [a certain] blue and white jumper that I found at a thrift store last summer, then worn it to my then-job at a fashion magazine after having realized that it made me look like a nurse and/or painter. It made for a good Halloween costume.

What do you do in your free time?

Julie-Anne
Considering that I balance two jobs with school, time for myself is precious, and I usually look forward to spending it exercising! I’m a bit of a fitness junkie. I love doing yoga, and recently I’ve gotten into ballet boot camps.
