Gratuitous Hotties: Our Top 10 Fictional Boyfriends

Posted by ChickAdvisor Team | Friday February 10, 201223 comments

Hey Chicks, I'd like to introduce you to my new boyfriend. Make that my ten new boyfriends.

Sure, they may not exactly be "real" or whatever (minor detail), but these ten temptations have the stuff love songs and stories are made of. Importantly, we nominate these 10 hunks for their staying power, not their playing power.  Perhaps we should have named this post "Top 10 Fictional Husbands", hmm?

So prepare yourself for a gratuitous gallery of our fave fictional boyfriends.  Enjoy!

Mr. Darcy in Pride & Prejudice

Whether he's played by Colin Firth (left) or Matthew McFadyen (right), Mr. Darcy is the ultimate romantic boyfriend for Valentine's Day. I had a hard time settling on how to describe my feelings about Mr. Darcy, and finally came up with this simple truth: this gentleman is Just. So. Sexy.

Don Draper (John Hamm) in Mad Men

Oh Don, you look at me with those penetrating stares and I forgive you any sin. Plus, you wear the heck out of a suit.

Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) in Pirates of the Caribbean

What is it about a sexy pirate, ladies? Will is mischievous but dangerously cute, which makes him prime BF material.

Westley (Cary Elwes) in The Princess Bride

Every single time I watch The Princess Bride I melt when he says, "as you wish". Seriously, it sends a shiver up my spine.

Alex Hitchens (Will Smith) in Hitch

When love comes sneaking up unaware, it makes it all the sweeter, doesn't it?  And any guy who can turn a Benadryl mishap into a tender moment is definitely worth a second date.  And a third and a fourth.

Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel) in How I Met Your Mother

Marshall Eriksen, where have you been all my life? How badly do I want to be Lily (the other half of this power couple) whenever I watch HIMYM?

Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) in The Notebook

Noah is the quite possibly the best boyfriend ever. No matter how great you think your real life boyfriend is, I am pretty sure Noah is better. (Also, I'd like to put in a vote for Ryan as either Hercules in Young Hercules or as Sean in Breaker High.  Who's with me?)

Doug Heffernan (Kevin James) in King of Queens

Who isn't attracted to the funny guy?  Doug's sheepish humour is infectious (just like his alter egos in Hitch and Zookeeper), and that's why we'd totally date this dude.

Nathan Rhodes (Chris O'Dowd) in Bridesmaids

Forget Annie, Nathan.  If that hussy doesn't appreciate your sweet sensitivity, I'll bake you a cake anytime!  Seriously.

Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) in Suits

Mandy enthusiastically endorses this gent by saying: "I've never seen a man look so sexy in pajamas."   Good enough for us!

Aidan Shaw (John Corbett) in Sex and the City

Now, I love Carrie Bradshaw (in fact, I am pretty convinced that Carrie is my spirit animal); however, when Ms. Bradshaw broke my Aidan's heart, I was pretty upset with her. It took me a while to get over the betrayal. Even when she dated Big, I secretly rooted for Aidan.

Which hottie heartthrob makes your fictional boyfriend list?

I'm more of a John Corbett on United States of Tara, fan. Max is a WAY BETTER DUDE than Aidan, sorrrry.

@kirsten: Wentworth! Yes :) :) Actually, pretty much all of the Austen men. James McAvoy in 'Becoming Jane', Alan Rickman (Col. Brandon) in 'Sense & Sensibility', Jonny Lee Miller (Edmund Bertram) in 'Mansfield Park', Paul Rudd (Josh) in 'Clueless' (which is a reboot of 'Emma'), Hugh Dancy in 'Jane Austen Book Club', and the list goes on.

Do I have an unhealthy obsession with Jane Austen? Maybe juuuuuust a smidge...
