Guess to Win: Posing in Easy Summer Updos
To beat the heat we're opting for easy summer updos. There's been quite a few chic ones around the office lately—from knots, to twists to headbands, it's easy to put a unique spin on one of these and make it your own.
Tammy split her hair into two, she started rolling and twisting pieces of her hair back from the top of her head back until she'd gathered in all the hair on both sides and had two pigtails of twisted pieces at the nape of her neck. Then she took bobby pins and tucked the opposite sides in behind the rolls of twisted hair she'd made behind her ear.
Alexandra has fairly thick, longish hair and, during the summer, the heat really starts to get to her. This top knot is super easy for her, she simply twists her hair around, then on the very top of her head, she ties it in a knot and then twists the extra hair around the bun. Here she used an elastic to keep it all in place and she suggests trying mini clips to get rid of any extra hairs that stick out. Topknots are great because, whether polished or messy they look good, and they work well for unwashed, day old hair, too. If you want a sleeker look, she suggests using bobby pins and some pomade or hair wax to smooth it all down.
Jenni curled her hair (she suggests hair that was washed the day prior) and then twisted her hair to the side of her head. Next she wrapped a braided rope around her head and secured. Twisting her hair into a low bun, she tucked the end of her bun under the string and let wisps fall out.
Tasha started by dividing her hair. Clipping the front and top up, she pulled the rest into a messy bun. From there, she took pieces from the side and top, twisted them up and pinned them at the back of her head—in, or around, the bun. Then she took pieces from the other side and the top and did the same thing. She continued this until almost all of her hair was twisted up and pinned somewhere haphazardly at the back. She left the front strand of hair down to frame her face, and pinned the end behind her ear. She finished with a generous coating of hairspray. Et voila an updo in 10 minutes or less.
Siofan divided hair in two pigtails and twisted each towards the back of her head. Then she took them each and twisted them around each other once, pulling the ends back toward each ear and tucking behind the roll of hair the twisting created. She then used a Spin Pin on each side and secured the centre with a large bobby pin.

Hey everyone! The contest is now closed!
I think Siofan did her hair on the subway. Myself, I do my hair very similar to Tammy quite often only I start on one side and go all the way over securing it with a little butterfly roach clip style pin. Another style I love is a double twist on both sides and then twisting the rest into a low bun and securing with an extra large Flexi-8 clip.
Alexandra done her hair on the subway!
I think it is Alexandra | |
@Cathy - I have two pieces and every time I twist, I would grab more hair onto the two pieces. I actually learned it from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOlmRc5Uk68. The girl does a much better job than me there so you should definitely check it out. It's really easy too!
These are adorable, I seriously love all these 'dos!
