Hair Transformation: DIY Dip Dying and Colour Streaks

Dip dying is one of the hottest hair trends right now, not just with natural colours, as in an ombre style but with pinks, oranges, blues- you name it! Using bolder colours to streak your hair, underneath or in certain areas, is a good balance for an 'in your face colour'. Dying just the ends of your hair is a funky way to have some colour, but still look natural. Finally, go for faded tones in a coral or peach for something different but still on trend.

We love the idea of dip dying and streaking our hair but we aren't in love with the idea of permanent dyes or having to bleach our hair first then applying the dye (since all of our hair is so dark). So- we decided to put Kevin Murphy's new product- Color.Bug to the test! Read our reviews over here for our reactions and for more info about the product.

We tried out three shades- orange, pink and purple and we're pretty thrilled with the results.

Shiori goes for pink and purple streaks that frame her face.

Alexandra opts for fiery oranges with touches of pink for something bright and daring.

Mandy's hair almost looks like it's fading into a natural brown with her touches of pink and orange.

I love them all but Alexandra's hair looks fierce (especially because it is so wonderfully curly)! I am always dying my hair and this look is something I seriously considered for my next trip to the salon because my hair doesn't agree with box dye.
Right now I'm thinking of changing my hair color completely and taking on this new red hair trend I'm seeing everywhere. Blond can take a backseat for awhile I think! :)

i like mandy's hair the best because it seems more natural to me! Whereas the other 2 girls seem to be sporting high school diy hair!

I love the results and I especially like the fact that it is subtle enough for the winter season. I am planning to do this to my hair extensions soon. Mandy's look is my fav!!

Mandy's look is absolutely my top choice! Not a look I'd ever choose however...

I think the above examples are on the tame side. However, it looks like fun. If you are going to make a statement with your hair it better be loud enough so we can hear it (in this case, see it!). I say go for bold or go home!
