Hair Transformations: 3 Easy Tweaks to Glam Up Your Girl-Next-Door Hairdo
Maybe you’re often in a rush, or maybe you’re just not that handy with hair – either way, it’s all too easy to pop your hair into a quick ponytail or topknot and go.
Here are 3 super simple switches you can make to your easy-peasy hairdo that will make all the difference in the world:
#1 – The Ballerina Bun, Braided
This hairstyle is deceptively simple and perfect for misbehaving tresses (ie. #badhairday fixes). Adding a little texture bumps this ‘do from sensible to sassy.
Plaiting 6 to 8 mini braids here and there before gathering hair up into a bun not only adds dimension but also stability to the style. Claire admits she plays with braiding her hair in front of the TV in the evenings, and then coils it up into this wearable daytime style the next morning.
#2 – A Deep, Retro-inspired Side Part
A tame little ponytail takes on a whole new personality if you give your hair a deep side part and anchor it to one side. Michelle demonstrates:
Tip: Keep a little volume in the hair above your ponytail’s base to balance the hair below.
#3 – Accessorize Your Topknot
Topknots are not only trendy, they’re practical too. Add a little oomph to this hairstyle statement by dressing it up with a neck scarf like Alexandra:

Hello Everyone! | |

I love #1! So cute! | |

I usually just stick my hair up in a pony tail or half a ponytail..but I would love to try # 1!

I like to do a side-pony taill with a little braird in the middle of the pony-tail. It adds a peek-a-boo of texture and style!
Following up on the ballerina bun - yes, it is super comfortable! When I did the hairstyle for this post, I only put in 3 or 4 braids that began at the hairline and then another 2 or 3 that began from the middle of my head. This method also increases the stability of the style, and the bases of the interior braids are completely hidden since the bun sits directly on top.
Ballerina bun for me! Looks light, chic and perfectly comfortable.. |
