Hair Trend: Return of the Barrette
Step aside pigtail-wearing pre-tweens and hand over those hair barrettes. Seen in multiple Spring 2011 runways shows including Cynthia Rowley, Badgley Mischka and Rodarte, the hair barrette is officially back as a big girl's accessory.

These accessories can be worn to accent or secure low slung buns and ponytails, or to hold side-swept hair across the forehead. Pick barrettes with a rustic feel and in muted colours that are close matches to the shade of your hair.
Here are a few of our favourites:
Caravan French Tortoise Shell and Gold Twist Barrette $6.50, Ficcare Maximas Hair Clip $38, France Luxe Subtle Studded Barrette $22
Anthropologie Glittering Arc Barrette $18, Anthropologie Colossal Bow Barrette $38, Caravan Large Tight Decorated Barrette Crystal and Colour $7

I've seen these all over lately, and they are beautiful! I really like the look of using them to sweep away the bangs from the face- it looks lovely. There are some really great ones at Aldo right now by the way :)
Really like the Caravan one and you cannot beat the price, fab article!
The Rodart is gorgeous! My favourite by far though is the short curly look by Bagdley Mischka - its elegant but also a little sassy
They add a nice little sparkle to your hair. I like how they are worn in the pictures above
I LOVE BARRETTES! What a throwback to the 90s! I'm loving the Caravan one! Barrettes are perfect when you're having a 'blah' hair day and need to jazz it up a tad. Yay!
Hoooray for the barrette! It works nicely w/ my new pixie haircut! :-D
I like the Anthropologie Glittering Arc Barrette! I'm not a fan of plastic ones though... I think they can often look very cheap. Rodarte worked them very well in their 2011 collection!
Yes yes yes! I was just thinking about how great a barrette would be this morning. I love wearing my hair down, but sometimes that gets a little boring; I'm excited to jump on this bandwaggon! |
