Hair Trends and Ideas To Try for Fall 2013

I am seriously getting sick of my hair. Since chopping off a significant amount, it's getting to that weird in-between stage and I just cannot deal with it. I'm looking forward to fall: it's a new season and so I think another change is totally justified.

Here are 5 hairstyle trends and ideas I'm liking:

Retro Meets Modern

We saw some throwback styles on the runway for fall 2013. What stood out about these vintage inspired looks is that they still feel fresh and modern thanks to a less-than-polished finish.

Bottega Veneta (top right) drew inspiration from the 40's and 70's to create their big, loose curled style, while Nina Ricci (bottom right) did an oversized ballerina bun. Lastly, Lowe (left) showed an unpolished bouffant.

Braids

Braids aren't going anywhere this season and though I'm a bit of an amateur in this area, I'm thrilled because they look gorgeous and easily transition between formal and casual.

A simple, semi hidden braid a la Rachel Zoe (left) is easy to do and adds more interest to your everyday hair. Rodarte gave us boho braids with a half up-do and bun (lower right). Lastly, fishtail braids are deceptively easy (just takes a little practice), but updated for fall 2013 in a low chignon (upper right).

Pixies, Bobs and Lobs

First Miley, then Anne, then Queen Bee and now Coco Rocha, celebs are loving shorter cuts. If you aren't quite brave enough to try a pixie, work a bob or lob.

The 'New' Ombre

Ombre is proving to be a longer-lived trend than initially expected. So what's the new 'it' colour for 2013? If popular celebs and trend-setting designers are any indication, we're looking at a more subtle approach to the ombre with natural colours. On the flip-side, punk influences from the runway encourage us to not shy away from playing with deeper colours. Save your pastels for spring!

Slicked Back

Minimalist with some grunge aspects, this is all about effortless style and ease.

Which of these looks will you try for fall?

enough with the ombre! it's been done and over done. love the braids, bobs and the retro cuts though. They will be perfect for fall.

Not loving the slicked back, I hope I don't see that around! I really love the braids, they've always been 'in' in my books, and I like the more natural approach to ombre.

I loved the braids, but I'm not a fan of the slicked back

Slicked back is quick and easy for hectic mornings. I also like the look of the braid within the straight hair:)

I love the look of a small simple braid at the side...I often do that and braid colored embroidery threads along through the braid to give it some color :)

I love all the looks in the 'braid' section! Also my hair is ombre, although I don't particularly like any of the pictures in that section. Mine is dark brown at the top and lighter brown/ carmel /slightly red color toward the bottom.
