Hi Tech Beauty: the New Gadgets You Should Try

| Monday October 5, 20093 comments
For years skin care companies have used technology to enhance their products – we call them “beauty gadgets”.  Their popularity with women and men means we will be seeing more high tech gadgetry alongside the traditional beauty care arsenal.  Want to clear your skin or banish hair?  We take a look at some of the newest beauty gizmos available:

Zeno Pro Acne Clearing System (from $129; mini version from $89)
Zeno is the pioneer of pimple-zapping, battery operated acne treatment. This skin-sparing device is designed with a tip that heats to a preset temperature. Once in contact with the blemish, the tip transfers heat to the follicle.  The blemish self destructs, your inflammation is reduced and skin can return to a healthy state. The level of heat is not damaging to your healthy skin.

Tända Clear Acne Light Therapy Treatment (from $195)
The Tända uses 414nm blue LED light to kill bacteria, healing blemishes and preventing outbreaks.  The light is gentle to the surrounding skin and will not harm it.  The treatment package also comes with Tanda Light-Optimized Cleanser and Anti-Blemish Gel to be used in conjunction with the handheld device.

Clarisonic Skin Care Brush (from $160)
Take home exfoliation to the next level with Clarisonic, a professional caliber brush that uses gentle sonic micro-massage action to cleanse deeply. The patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second cleans, softens and smooths your skin. Regular use reduces the appearance of pore size and banishes dirt.

Our tip: buy the pink brush - a portion of the proceeds benefits Breast Cancer research!

Neutrogena Wave Duo (from $16)
The Neutrogena Wave Duo is a dual-speed battery powered facial cleanser that helps exfoliate and open clogged pores. The first speed uses gentle vibration that massages and cleanses the face, while the second speed provides deeper vibration to remove rough areas of the face and cleanses 10 times better than traditional bottled cleansers.

No!No! Hair Removal System (from $175)
Is a hairless surface the most important part of your beauty regime?  Yes! Yes!  The No!No! uses heat to remove hair and prevent regrowth.  Like laser treatments, the heat gradually disrupts the hair growth cycle. Suitable for all hair types and skin colors, this product uses a thermodynamic wire to transmit the heat to the hair. The treatment is pain-free and won't cause the usual ingrown hairs, red pimples or rashes. It's not electrolysis, but will yield best results over time.

Temptu AIRbrush Makeup System (from $225 US)
When professional beauty intervention is needed, try the professional airbrush makeup system that delivers flawless application in the comfort of your own home! Labeled as the next generation of makeup, you can beautify your look in a few easy sprays.  Your kit includes the AIRbrush, air compressor, and instructional DVD and manual. Air Pod Highlighter, Blush and Powder are sold separately.

Breastlight (from $150)
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Designed as a health product, Breastlight helps women detect changes in their breasts over time.  It works by shining a bright red light through the breast tissue so women can actively monitor for any abnormalities. Breastlight comes along with detailed instructions on how to use the product and what to look for while examining your breasts.

Have you tried any of these gadgets?  Tell us your experience!

I've tried the no-no and it is a painful process - not really literally but it takes for ever to remove the hair. Depending on your hair (I have a lot and very coarse) it takes about 2 hrs per leg. The premise of the product is that you can give yourself in-home laser hair removal which of course takes time to really see results. You have to do it at least every 2 weeks for it to be effective. Over time I did notice my hair was a lot softer and growing slower. But I think for my time and sanity I would just pay for a professional to do it!

Very informative, Ladies! Has anyone tried the No-No? How does that compare to the epilator?
