Holiday Cocktail Recipes: The Mint Chocolate Martini
For those who like mint chocolate, I am about to blow your mind.
Here we have mint chocolate with a splash of Irish cream liqueur and vanilla vodka all mixed together in a chocolate and sprinkle garnished martini glass. Delicious much?
I love this cocktail recipe for a party, or as just a fabulous late afternoon or after dinner drink. It's the perfect blend of sophistication and total fun!
What you'll need:
1 ounce Irish Cream ( I used Carolan's Irish Cream from our Eggnog Martini Recipe, courtesy of Carolan's)
1/2 ounce Vanilla Vodka
1 cup milk
2 tbsp cocoa
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla
OR 2 tbsp chocolate syrup
Mint Leaves
For Garnishing Glass:
Mint chocolate
Sprinkles
The Prep: Garnishing the glass
Step 1: Melt mint chocolate in bowl.
Step 2: Dipping glass upside down in the melted chocolate, turn so that the top of your glass is rimmed in mint chocolate.
Step 3: On the glass' side, roll all the way around in a bowl of sprinkles. You may need to just press the sides into the sprinkles as well.
Directions:
Step 1: Using a mortar and pestle, lightly bruise around 5-6 mint leaves. If you don't have a mortar and pestle handy, you can tear a few of the leaves in half.
Step 2: Pour milk into saucepan, add cocoa and sugar. Heat on medium-high and stir often.
Tip: Swap 2 tsbp of chocolate syrup for the cocoa and sugar.
Step 3: Add vanilla and mint leaves. Continue to stir. Try whisking the mixture as well to add some frothiness.
Tip: You don't need to bring this mixture to a boil, but it should be fairly hot so that the mint flavour is infused into the chocolate milk.
Step 4: Add shot of Irish cream and vanilla vodka. Then add the hot chocolate-mint mixture.
Tip: You may want to strain out the mint leaves in the mixture first. I did this and then used a laddle to pour the chocolate-mint mix.
I liked this cocktail warm- like an even delicious-er version of a hot chocolate! However, if chilled n' cool is more your cocktail style, simply pour all the ingredients (vodka, Irish cream and mint hot chocolate) into a cocktail shaker first with a couple of ice cubes, shake and pour into martini glass!
